Well - my family and I have only been here for a month. The inside of our home is nice (minus the fact that they claimed to have made updates/renovations a week before we moved in) - The stove had old burners (one SUPER rusted) but they switched them out quickly once I saw it -_-, Already having some disappointments. The woman who got us squared away, Ms. Sharon - seems like a sweet lady but my husband and I were told different things at different times. Mostly regarding utilities. If you even consider this place, know that you will be paying ALL utilities including trash. Power is with East Point Power ($265 turn on fee) - water is not a set fee, etc. Maintenance was suppose to return the same week we moved in to fix the kitchen outlets (they're old and worn out)- a month later, still waiting.
The staff seems nice. Some are but it's clear they all don't get the same training because you can't even get the correct info regarding your lease. We were told water was paid with rent - now someone else tells us, "no its separate". Had we known we'd be spending $760+ a month to live here under more than small false pretense, we would have continued looking. Especially since there is no "business center" and the laundry facility isn't even 24 hours but it's passcode-protected (closes at 9 so it sucks if you work often). What laundry facility closes at 9PM? One thing I figured could be overlooked under we got our washer/dryer in. The only cable we saw available was with Xfinity and most folks here have ADT security installed.
The location is okay, on Marta bus line, and landscape is somewhat clean - the neighbors in our building aren't pleasant, the trash can, we have to walk across the street to in the other building unit. We have the very top floor so no bugs in sight (so far) - the neighborhood is ok. I wouldn't take a stroll after sunset. Community is not gated - they don't have security on the property (so it's a lie when they do tell you so) - I knew that when we did the tour (saw no one).
CON - sadly, no patios. I really hoped to find a place with a patio to grow my herbs and veggies or do some composting to eliminate having the throw away tons of trash but nope. Other housing choice was already fully occupied. You can't even have anything outside your own door other than a welcome mat or something, which I think is stupid.
The place is ok for now, it's liveable. You will see that kids are around, you may look out your window and spot a group of twerkers (lol) every now and then, or some guy cursing out someone late at night. We took a chance on this place even after some horrible past reviews BUT you never know. No place is perfect. If you plan to live here, save on your utilities and do like we do, turn off whatever rooms and lights you don't use throughout the day on your breaker box. let the natural light shine through during the day. I work from home so our extra bedroom, living room, and front entry power is usually off during the day, electronics not in use we unplug, etc. The stove stays off until we need it too. Makes a HUGE difference in what you pay monthly (trust me).
Overall, the apartment we have is nice. If you want to avoid the possibility of bugs, request a 2nd or third floor apartment. If you can't stand people walking above you, get the 3rd floor (FYI - the floors are THIN as heck, I can literally hear the person below me answer his phone after I hear it rings). We haven't experienced or seen any break-ins or car break-ins. We wanted to be closest to the front because the back of this place was out of the question. We just stay in the house mostly and only leave to run errands or work - or to take a short walk near the front of the community during daylight. It's an ok place to temporarily call home if you need a last resort when better places are...
Read moreWe finally are out of there. Jameson was very good and if anything ever breaks or stop working they will come fix it. All of the maintenance guys we're cool. They lied to us and told us that they put a renewal on our front door if we wanted to re-sign our lease, the fact is I have cameras and my neighbor also did to or a email sent to us, never came. But any other time we received it the first two years we we're there . So we had to stay a extra 90 days . But y'all can have that money we always pay on time anyway. Plus they keep the grounds looking nice. Now the biggest problem that we have had was our cars was at least broken into more than 10times. They say that they have a officer riding around but that's a lie they come if something has happened over there. Both of my neighbors who moved over there either there car was broken into or they stole there tags off of there cars. My niece was over for just an hour and they went threw her car and took her tag. It took us 3 yrs just to get lights in the back where single ladies and people Park their cars at. Village highland told us they didn't have any control of that. So my neighbors and I had to call East Point ourselves. But I feel like if it's your property you should accommodate us. Our last two months there was hell our A.C went out I have real bad asthma plus mold started building up. I don't know if they were mad because we were moving out but no one never came to fix it or the office didn't try to accommodate us. Now if you want your cars stolen, broken into or tag stolen please...
Read moreI LIVED IN VILLAGE HIGHLANDS FOR YEARS, BUT WHEREVER I HAD A PROBLEM WITH MAINTENANCE OR THE LEASING OFFICE THEY WERE OVER LOOKED. THEIR MOST MAJOR PROBLEM IS HOW THE CALCULATE WATER CONSUMPTION AND SEWAGE. WHEN I RECEIVED A WATER BILL THAT WAS NOT CORRECTED THEY LIED AND TOLD ME CITY OF EAST POINT CONTROLS THAT. WHEN I CONTACTED CITY OF EAST POINT THEY TOLD ME MY LEASING OFFICE WAS IN CHARGE OF RATING CONSUMPTION FOR ITS TENANTS IF THEY DISTRIBUTES THE BILLS.. WHAT VILLAGE HIGHLAND DO IS THEY WILL SAY YOU HAVE YOU OWN WATER TANK AND IT TRACKS YOUR APARTMENTS AND THE HIRE OUTSIDE SERVICE TO READ YOU INDIVIDUAL METER AND FROM YOU INDIVIDUAL METER USE VILLAGE HIGHLANDS AND RAM CALCULATE WHAT PORTION OF ONE CITY OF EAST POINT BILL. SO BASICALLY EAST POINT CHARGE YOUR VILLAGE HIGHLAND BUILDING AND PROVIDE THOSE BILLS TO VILLAGE HIGH LANDS AND VILLAGE HIGHLANDS AND RAM CALCULATE WHAT THEY SHOULD CHARGE YOU BASED ON HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE ON YOUR LEASE AND HOW MANY TENANTS ARE IN THE BUILDING TOTAL. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR CONSUMPTION THIS IS HOW THEY ARE STEALING FROM THE TENANTS. DON'T MOVE HERE PLEASE!!! THE LAYOUT OF THE APARTMENTS ARE GREAT BUT EVERYTHING ELSE SUCKS. I MEAN EVERYTHING. DON'T MOVE HERE PLEASE!!! THE LAYOUT OF THE APARTMENTS ARE GREAT BUT EVERYTHING ELSE SUCKS. I MEAN EVERYTHING.DON'T MOVE HERE PLEASE!!!
