I'm not one to leave bad reviews online, but this is an exception. I feel I received bad service because I had a gift card and booked last minute, for my birthday. I was told my colorist had 15 years of experience but anyone could have done a better job. I showed her pictures, I told her my hair had been dyed darker the previous year, and she told me it would still turn out fine. The bayalage did NOT look like any picture I used as examples, it was barely any lighter and it was SUPER brassy. Worst yet, is that she started way too close too the roots so it looked like tacky highlights that had grown out. She and the other stylist who cut my hair (whoever booked me had to split my cut/color between two stylists, forcing me to wait a half hour inbetween services) could not have been any less genuine when they told me my hair looked "super pretty." The second stylist didn't even try making conversation, making me feel super insecure. I left saying it didn't turn out anything like I expected, and the politeness in me came out when I said it was suitable for autumn. I tried the next week to learn to love it, but the opposite happened. Even my boyfriend said that it looked like I just sat out in the sun all weekend - no wow factor. So I called back and they had a different stylist fix my hair with a glaze - he explained to me that it would fade over time and the blonde would peek through, which I thought would be fine. But over time to me does not mean 3 washes and it's practically back to blonde! This experience was SUPER disappointing and frustrating given the fact other people seem to love it and I was referred, but I would never come back here, especially because I paid an outrageous amount of money even after the gift card for a mediocre job at best by people who did not seem to care about me as a client at all. Unfortunately high expense does not equal quality...
Read moreThe following comment is solely based on my experience. I have been to Bespoke a few times for hair coloring. My first experience was beyond pleasant and I left with nothing to complain about. The person I was paired with was warm, professional, and welcoming and managed to color my natural African hair without giving me the subtle and yet discriminatory remarks that some seem to portray in that salon. I am actually referring to just one person that I saw this week for hair coloring. So, here is my overall feedback. If you happen to have a straight caucasian hair, ignore this comment. But if you have a natural like I do, I might suggest being candid with them and asking them their level of comfortability with doing a natural hair. Of course, this is also tricky because most people don't want to come across as racist or whatever and they don't give you an honest answer. But oftentimes body languages and facial expressions don't lie so at times that's all I need in order to know what I need to know about that person. Bespoke - Please train your staff to be decent and mindful of what they say and how they treat their customers regardless of their hair types and their skin color. Asking questions such as, "Do you wear your hair down? or saying things like, "your hair gets tangled up no matter how I comb it" is downright offensive, if not...
Read moreI'm not originally from the cities so finding a new salon--even with online reviews--took me a while. Its important to me to find someone who will help me get it just right, and Leanne knows her stuff. I've been seeing her for about a year and she checks and double checks that your cut is correct--twice--both before and after your hair dries--which I love. By no means "expect" a stylist to do this, but I think it shows that she's invested in making sure it's done right every time and detail-oriented enough to notice if it's even the slightest bit off. Also, whether I want to be "boring" and keep it all the same or go for something different, Leanne gives me time to decide/explain so I don't feel rushed and we're both on the same page.
--Also, I have a design background so I want to mention the atmosphere and attention paid to creating a stylish and luxurious space. The front shop is supplied by a nearby boutique, but there is a variety of magazines, framed photos, and books that hint at an interest in design, whether it be interior, fashion, architectural, cosmetic, or otherwise. It's just a bit of icing when you can tell someone has put their heart and soul into a place and are actively trying to curate an experience rather than just hanging some stylish photos on the wall, setting out some People magazines, and...
