Store specific review for Edwardsville.
Frank at Homedepot has been helping my Mother remodel her property and has ordered material for her and has been helpful until it came to the deck.
We had a diagram drawn out of the deck with all measurements and dimensions. Most of the items on the deck were special order composite. Frank placed the order and when it came in was delivered to the home. The steps were completely overlooked as well as the screws to put the deck together and therefore had to make a trip (32 miles one way) to pick up stringers, temporary wood for treads as the composite is special order and screws.
We spoke with Frank on a Friday afternoon in regards to what was missing (all items for stairs) and he stated he was headed out for the day but would call on Monday and place the order. Frank did not call although he sent over the order to my Mothers email (I should have reviewed this order but did not as I thought Frank was capable of ordering 5 items).
Went to pick it up today and Home Depot could not find the order and said to come back when Frank was there. Frank called later and stated the order was in although the order was missing the tread material for the stairs. Frank now says that the treads were not discussed and we will have to wait another 7-10 days before it arrives.
We discussed that nothing for the stairs was originally ordered and all items needed ordered... can you build stairs without treads???
Kicker is that I live in Chicago and will now have to make 3 total trips to my Mothers (4 hours each way) to complete the job when I should have came down one time.
Frank is obviously not qualified to place a complete deck order. At the very least HomeDepot should have a check and balance system or tell customers upfront to complete their own order. We trusted Frank with this and the ball has gotten dropped.
Homedepot gave my Mother a mail in rebate for the trouble. Very disappointed to...
Read moreWe ordered a built in dishwasher during the black Friday sale. We paid for installation and haul away of our old one, scheduled for a Saturday from 9 to noon. The day prior to installation, we were called and told they would be there between noon and 430 which was not the time we scheduled. The installers showed up and within 5 minutes they said they could not remove the dishwasher because we had a raised floor, which no one mentioned when we were ordering and scheduling for delivery. They left and within 10 minutes, we took the two mounting screws off and pulled it out. We called the delivery people back and they said they would contact their manager and see if they can come back out. A half hour later we called and they said their manager was calling them back now and they would call us back. By this time, it was after the delivery window. The next day we went to the home depot and spoke with the specialist manager who said of course they wouldn't install it because the floor wasn't level. She said if we wanted it installed we would have to pull out the dishwasher and push the new one in once it was "installed" which doesn't sound like any kind of installation I have ever heard of. We asked for a refund and were told we would have to come back on Monday at 9am because the dishwasher was still on the truck, which we cannot do because we work. Had we known they could not install it, we could have looked elsewhere and still gotten a sale price. A little communication goes a long way in situations like this and could have smoothed over the situation. The installation people and specialist manager were rude and offered no communication to...
Read moreMy wife and I purchased carpet from this store in Edwardsville and the experience has been horrible, the billing is messed up, the installer damaged our home, and the Asst. Store Managers, Tim and Pete have bitter and rude attitudes that lack customer care or concern! It has been over a week since we initially contacted Tim with our concerns about the billing mess up. When I called today the customer service rep told me they have alot of new cashiers. We got a 5% discount for using our Home Depot Charge Card and this negated the 0% we were getting on our over $5,000 purchase. We were not told this would negate the 0% and then we are told that it is Citibank that offers the discount in their store. Maybe, but I don't go to Citibank, I went to Home Depot! I refinished my basement 2 yrs ago and the same store messed up the billing in the pro department and it took multiple trips to get it fixed. The Store Mgr. stepped up and took care of it. I think I just don't have time to deal with Home Depot in Edwardsville anymore. Additionally, we were promised an install date and then there were complications with fulfilling that, the installers damaged the banister and walls in my home and now we need light plaster work and painting done, we have spent over 18 hours with the installers in our home and we are not done yet. Very frustrating purchase to...
