The two star rating is on the store itself and none of their products. I did not expect to play games, haggle, and be lied to when buying a bed. I was promised multiple things but they never followed through. On the good side, the guy and gal who helped me in the store were very knowledgeable and nice. I just didn't like the games and being lied to.
I went in on the 15th, which was towards the start of the President's Day Sale. The sale ends on the 24th (give or take a day) but the sales guy told me it ended the next day (the 16th). That wad the first game/trick they tried to play on us. However, they were very helpful and nice! We found everything I needed but it was slightly over budget. The sales guy went to "call his boss" to see if we could get extra savings to get it within my budget. He comes back and said the boss approved and we continued on with the check out process.
The gal rang things up incorrectly (we all agreed I would pay half that day and the other half the following Friday). Well, she canceled the payment because of a mistake she made. She told me I needed to call her once my bank was done pending the transaction, which would be a few days because of the holiday. We asked if her boss would be okay with that because it would throw off her drawer at the end of the day. She said "Oh, it's ok. I'm the manager of this store and I own it." (So why did the sales guy "have to go call the boss" earlier to get the savings approved? rolls eyes trick/game #2 was caught).
Fast forward to Tuesday, my bank was done pending and I call the gal (the owner of the store). She tells me to call back when I can pay for it in full (Friday) and because of all the hassle they would give me free delivery. Then she proceeded to tell me that they could deliver to me on Saturday or Sunday, whichever would be best for me.
I call on Friday and ask to pay on the phone. The guy who answered said that I could only pay online. So he would send me a link but to watch out because "the email might go to my spam folder. Once I find the email then the link may not work. So I would have to type it in manually. But there might be a problem with that too. So I would have to add a `S0´ in front of my order number." How is this easier than paying over the phone?! Anyways, he asked when I would like it delivered. I told him I was promised by the owner that it would be delivered Sat or Sun. He said they do not deliver on Saturdays but he could do Sunday. After looking at where I live, he tells me they only deliver to my location on Fridays. So I would have to wait until the 28th. That is two weeks after originally going into the store!
The next day, I went to Ashley Furniture and told them the problem I was having with Mattress Firm but I liked the good deals they were providing me. They helped me find a similar bed and base as I had found at Mattress Firm. When I told them the savings I was getting at Mattress Firm, they proceeded to talk with the manager who agreed to offer me the set for $200 less than what I was going to pay at Mattress Firm.
So, I bought and picked up my new bed the same day at Ashley instead of playing games, listening to tricks, and waiting over two weeks (after being promised only one week) at Mattress Firm. Read more0 stars is the appropriate rating. I had every intention of buying a new mattress before leaving this store. Walked in. The wife and I were immediately met by a salesman as we entered. He explained the layout of the store and instructed us to lay on a bed in front of us to see if we liked it. I told the young man that we wanted to walk around and look at things and talk first. The salesman was insistent and continued with pushy high-pressure sales techniques. I again politely told the young man that we wanted to walk around and look at things, and I would let him know if we needed anything. He continued with high-pressure sales techniques and refused to stop talking long enough for me to gather my thoughts. I again politely told the young man we wished to walk around the store and look at things and talk amongst ourselves. He continued and started thanking me for maintaining the level of respect I was currently showing him but would not stop talking to us. I then just told him straight out, "Walk away from us, I will let you know if I need anything or I'm leaving. He then started to tell me how he was a person, and he deserved to be treated with respect. Which made my wife laugh because he clearly was not respecting us. We left. This place reminds me of a sketchy used car lot. The salesman definitely needs better training. I will not return to this store again. EDIT. In response to the owners reply to this review, I would erge the owner to review the security footage from this store. You were lied to. You will see us walk in with a smile on our faces. I'm laughing and joking with the salesman. You will clearly see the expression on my face change every time I politely request to be left alone. If you can read lips, you will clearly see that no foul language was used at any time. Read moreUPDATE: Let preference this review by saying, I stand by the service I received from this store and sales assistant that served us. BUT! As for the mattress we bought... it's the worst. We stared the process in February to return the mattress to get a replacement because it's sinking in spots and the edge is now slightly higher than the sides. The return requirement is pretty specific and takes some effort to get the pics correct. I really thought we wouldn't have to worry about a mattress for the next 5+ years but here we are. Again, no issue with the service but the mattress is still whole other issue.
*PREVIOUS REVIEW: My husband and I needed a mattress because I was having back, knee, and neck issues that made me miserable when I got up in the morning. We started searching in Edwardsville for any mattress store and we happened into Mattress Firm and was greeted by Eve. She walked us through explaining every mattress question with proficiency. No pressure ever! She let us look and try whatever we wanted and only answering the questions we asked. Eve also explained if our mattress goes on sale within a month we get the difference, and we did. I can't say enough about the service we recieved and professionalism from Eve.
