I had another sub-par experience at the Watertown SD Runnings store today, Memorial Day. I purchased a mower belt at the store yesterday. It was the wrong size, so I returned it today and picked up a new one. Runnings promotes a 10% discount for first responders and military on Memorial Day so I asked the cashier if I could get 10% off the new belt with a military discount. She seemed new and overwhelmed with the return and this question put her over the top so she asked the cashier at the next register if it was ok to do that and was told the discount could not be applied to returns. I tried to explain that I didn't want to apply the discount to the return, just to the new purchase. She said no. I asked if it would be different if I just returned the first belt for a refund and then came back and purchased the new belt. Could I get the discount then? It was fruitless and she proceeded to point at me and berate me, almost good naturedly, but not quite, for trying to make her think on a holiday. I gave up and paid the extra money for the new belt. She also failed to apply the tax-free status for my farm account so overall I was denied two discounts on one purchase and was treated rudely by an undertrained employee. I have complained in the past to Runnings corporate about the overall disorderly state of their Watertown store, the poor selection of merchandise, and the overall low quality of customer service from the employees. They are becoming more and more discourteous and unhelpful and seem to dislike being there. I had the opportunity to shop the Brookings SD store on several occasions and have been consistently impressed. This leads me to believe there is a leadership problem here in Watertown. I only wish Brookings wasn't 60 miles away! I hope someone can address this issue which is just an indication of a more extensive problem. I want my local Runnings to do better so I can continue to support it and not dread shopping there. Please help these...
Read moreStocking a new farm...We needed to start from scratch with tools, tractor, sprayers, chicken supplies....etc....Stopped at Runnings to grab he first cart load...and Shopped the shelf special for DeWalt tools. "Buy 3 bare tools ($200-$300 each) and get 3 batteries, a charger, a light and a tool box ... FREE " Brought it all to checkout and ended up with a very RUDE cashier who spent more time complaining about putting the sign back, flipping thru the sales catalogue and not finding the promotion that was on the shelves. My husband put the sign back and she was still very Rude to him when he returned about it. He said "forget it, I'll order DeWalt from Home Depot Online" and we walked out. I hope ""(Wendy) found someone to put the tools back. We won't be back if that is their idea of...
Read moreToday. June 29th I went into runnings in Watertown sd. To find out the female manager was very rude. And when the main male manager came he was 2. All I was trying to do was exchange my new 20v dewalt chainsaw. That was 68 days old because it was leaking chain oil out of a couple plastic areas. Which it shouldn't of been. There was a 90 day instore return policy on it if something happened. Or if u dont like it. So I tried to exchange it and they wouldn't let me. Cause they said it was to close to 90 days. But there was still 22 days until I hit 90 days. If I was a day or 2 before 90 with no actual reason I could see them saying no. So they kinda made me believe that there 90 return policy was a lie. Would give zero...
