Initially, I was very excited after reading up on some of the menu items. I really liked the way the place was decorated and the colourful furnishings.
I started losing my enthusiasm, starting my experience with hard brittle, stale tasting chips. I was told they actually made the chips from scratch daily, so according to him, they were fresh. The salsa was very generic tasting, so moving on.
I ordered off their specialty section. Puerto Vallarta Platter
Crab meat, prawns, and chicken sautéed in wine, then topped with Monterey jack cheddar cheese and mushrooms, then baked. Served with Mexican rice and refried beans or cholesterol-free "De la olla" and your choice of flour or corn tortillas.
$18.95 online, actual price 19.95.
It was ok. I do wish they would placed the cold items on a separate plate and not on the blazing hot plate the main dish came on.
I'm not really a fan of hot sour cream, Gaucamole, lettuce, and what should have been some pico de gallo.
Anyway, overall, great atmosphere due to all the decorations etc.. food was average. Unfortunately, since I was the only customer in the restaurant for the majority of time, I was there. They didn't feel the need to check in on me. It was only after 3 other tables fill up that I was finally able to flag someone down for my first and only refill for Pepsi and salsa.
I don't believe there is a reason to return to this one. The food at local truckstops restaurant is actually...
Read moreWow, what a find in Watertown! This building doesn't look like much from the outside because it's located in a strip mall, but is spacious and professional on the inside. We got there about 6:30 and it was fairly packed but we were seated almost immediately. I loved the decor of the place as well. The booths have really cool art and it's decorated appropriately. It feels "authentic" the minute you walk in. When there, they even had table side happy birthday singing. ☺️
First of all, the menu is detailed and amazing. It took up 3 full pages with a wide variety of dishes, drinks and even deserts. The chips (and I've only experienced this once before...) were warm from just being made. The salsa was flavorful but not too spicy. We both had the seafood chimichangas with margaritas on the rocks. The meal came to us very quickly. The margaritas were delicious! Perfectly made. The chimichangas were absolutely delicious and perfect with a lot of flavor. The guacamole that came with it was really, really good.
I'm so happy we chose this place. If you're in the area and have a craving for authentic Mexican food, don't pass...
Read moreThis is the BEST resteraunt in the state. I stand by that full heartedly. The environment is wonderful, the staff is enriching, and the food sends me to another world. Here’s what you do: you sit down and order a large queso, then you order the authentic street tacos - chicken - and extra limes. This dish is my Roman Empire. The new Mexican restaurant in Watertown, “Santo Tequila” people will say is better, but it’s not. Guadalajara beats this by every single metric of possibility. I’m currently sitting in Slovenia eating authentic Slovenian cuisine… which is divine, and yet I think about my Guadalajara food while looking at the Alps and I type this while at the dinner table eating my food. Besides that have been to many wonderful Restaurants and have yet to meet one that is as delightful! This may now that I think of it, the best international restaurant I have been to! Sincerely, the blonde woman who orders the authentic street tacos, chicken, no beans, just rice, with extra...
