*Another year, another outstanding prime rib! The consistency of the quality is like nowhere else. So much that we traveled from Stillwater to pick up our prime rib for the holidays! When placing the order over the phone I explained that we would be freezing the prime rib until Christmas. Upon pick-up the prime rib was triple wrapped and ready for the freezer. Despite the extremely reasonable prices, the customer service and quality of in house meats/foods is superior to any other grocer. Thanks again for an outstanding prime rib! Already excited for next years!

We always visit Zups before heading back home to pick up mustard, polish delights, pasties, pizzas and mocha cakes. At the encouragement of the locals we ordered our holiday Prime Rib from Zups this year. WOW! It was the best Prime Rib we've had, at home or in restaurant. Very reasonably priced, spices and au jus included. OUTSTANDING!

Coated the Prime Rib with the spice packet mixed with some fresh garlic and butter. Let it sit out at room temp for an hour or so before cooking it at 500 for 15 minutes (yes, I set off the smoke detector) followed by 13 minutes a pound at 325. Tented it with foil while the sides cooked for about 40 minutes. The PERFECT Prime Rib! Thanks Zups! We will never get Prime Rib anywhere else!

p.s. I agree with previous reviewer.... I get a HyVee vibe from the new Zups! Ely will be where we retire and we are so grateful for such a wonderful option...

I have purchased the sausage products from Zups since I was a young lad growing up in Ely, Minnesota. One of our favorites was hot baloney right out of the smoker on thursdays. We would pick up our order and run home to devour it. The blood sausage is from out of this world. I can eat a whole ring by myself. The Polish sausage is to die for. A few years ago, I remember loading up on sausage to take back home on the plane. I triple wrapped my frozen cash in plastic and in a sealed heavy suitcase and checked it on the plane. When I retrieved my case in San Diego after the plane landed, you knew that suit case with the light front on the outside and the smell of garlic. The latest shipment just arrived soundly packed with layers of insulated wrappings, dry ice and ice packs. The extra service was provided by my friends at Zups because of the spot warm weather this first week in March 2021. Everything arrive still frozen. Zups takes good care of their customers at home and far away to California

If I can't get it at Zups I can do without it or make my own. Pretty good hot deli if I don't want to cook. Specialties like pastys, hot bologna, zinkrofe and a good rotisserie chicken, too*! There is a new pharmacy with drive up window service, or you can enter from the back corner of the store. Essentia Pharmacy.

*If I had a complaint, it would be prices. Of course, we're at the end of the road and tourists, etc., but when there is no competition (only a Dollar General which is not well stocked & a tiny natural foods store is no competition, sorry (we are all not looking for wheatgrass juice cleanses)), then whatever they think they can get, they will get. At a certain point, driving 55 miles to Virginia doesn't look so bad, even at $4/gallon ($3.34/g as of 11/20/23) gas. I also refuse to use "self checkout", as people need jobs. Don't turn Ely into Jackson Hole or Aspen, where the service workers cannot afford to live in the town. Retirees are stuck and many now live on tea and toast as it's all...
