If you are drooling over the reviewer's pictures of the hand tools like I was, read this first!
Pros: Nice building (huge building), wide selection of all kinds of stuff, excellent selection of vintage tools especially woodworking tools (like way way better than any other shop I've found in the area and I go antiquing often), pretty much everything was high quality, nice people.
Cons: OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive tools. We drove 2 hours because of their impressive hand tool selection and it was indeed impressive- but- almost every tool was at, or well above, mint-condition market value for tools that were in fair to good condition. I am a pretty well educated hand plane and saw user/collector and I have never seen such high prices. Examples- $80-90 mid type Stanly No. 4 & 5's in fair condition, $40-60 for run of the mill Disston and Warranted Superior handsaws in poor to fair condition, $18-$40 for socket chisels in poor to moderate condition with or without handles.
All of that said, I did buy a 1/4" mortising chisel (socket, no handle, poor condition) for $10, a no-name 12mm thumbnail carving gouge ($12 with handle, fair condition), and a very nice full set of craftsman brace augers in great shape ($21)- the augers came from a booth way in the back that actually had fair prices.
All told, a disappointing 4 hour round trip with little to...
Read moreWent in looking for baseball cards.. found some really amazing cards and packs from booth 300.. and then I kept looking around and came up on a display case and cards at the entrance.. I saw two cards I really like a cal ripken jr rookie card and a Lamar Jackson rookie auto.. I asked the dealer if this is the real rookie auto in which he said yes and then said how he got some other autos from his friends uncle.. after saying I'll take the cal ripken jr rookie card and the Lamar rookie card he took them away before I could look them up or verify if it was a real lj. He then gave me a price in which I accepted and his phone number.. I messaged him a couple days later saying this isn't the real Lamar Jackson and that he sold me a fake.. he then came back saying he never said it was real. so then I respectfully asked for a refund.. and he declined so then I offered to trade so that he would still keep the money id just get another card in which he denied as well and said I was trying to take advantage of him and blocked my number.. this is the booth by the front door.. not a good...
Read moreGot there after an hour drive only to be told they would be closing in 15 minutes (at 3:45 instead of their stated 5:00 closing time) "due to weather", even though it wasn't raining or snowing at all at the time. I asked if they could open a display case that was located about ten feet from the checkout area up front as it contained several items that I'd wanted to purchase and they refused, stating they were closing soon. I should point out when I'd asked, there were three workers behind the counter and zero customers in line. So I left without giving that vendor any business thanks to the workers refusal to open a case right in front of them. I then drove the hour car ride home in perfectly clear weather. Let any potential vendors be aware that this is how your customers will be treated. And to any who might want to consider shopping here, just know that the stated hours are totally arbitrary and the store can (and will) be closed for any reason, real...
