My local Kroger Marketplace in Englewood is my go-to grocery store. I rarely go inside the store. I’ve been using their curbside pickup since prior to the pandemic (i.e. since my hip replacement in 2018). I can “shop” online over a few days time to make sure I don’t forget to put something on my list. Their app lets me know if an item is low stock or out-of-stock. The app requests back up items and saves them in the app for future shopping. I can choose the day and time I want my pickup. Messages arrive via iPhone to let me know they’ve received my order and I also get reminders. There is a window of time to modify my order. The app asks if I want this appointment to go in my iPhone calendar. Often I’ll get a text that my order is ready early. Occasionally I’ve had my order postponed a couple of hours or until the next day when there aren’t enough workers to do the in-store shopping. This is due to employee illness or sheer volume of curbside shoppers. This is more common the day before a big holiday. When an order is postponed I get a phone call from an actual human to let me know of the delay. I’m OK with delays. No need to complain to employees. They are doing me a huge service by providing curbside service. Delays are beyond their scope of power. The app wants me to let them know I’m on my way and then which parking spot I’m in when I arrive. An employee comes to the car window to confirm my name and ask if I have any paper coupons. They carefully load my groceries in the trunk. It’s a totally painless process other than I have to unload the groceries when I get home. Forget something? Once I placed a minimum order of $35 and made another appointment the same day within a few hours. Now let’s talk ways to save money. There are personalized paper coupons mailed to your home. There are digital coupons online. I have the Kroger credit card and I get rebates. I also joined their Boost membership ($59 annually) and receive double points (or more) for fuel points (2 points for every dollar I spend). This discount pays for the Boost membership in no time. I’ve received as high as $1.50 off a gallon of gas. A receipt for your groceries arrives via online. Be sure to answer the survey attached to the receipt. At the end of the survey I’m notified that I’ll be rewarded with 5xs points for my next fuel purchase. 5xs discount can be used as a result of purchases that occur at least 7 days apart. The final receipt also has a space to request refunds for damaged items (once I had a yogurt that had opened) or if items are missing (i.e. once I got 3 instead of 4 of the same item). There are probably more ways to save money but this is all I’ve discovered. I’m very pleased with my curbside shopping at my Kroger...
Read moreKroger Englewood really disappointed me last night. I placed an order on click list around 2:40pm for the 7-8 pm pick up time slot. We pretty much planned our evening around that. Inspite of the closest ClickList being about 30 minutes from us, with 4 kids, and still chosing to shop for produce myself, it's still been a great service for our family. Except this time, our first time trying Englewood, it was a huge failure. We went to a restaurant near by about 6:30/6:45. My phone died right about the same time. So I left it charging in the vehicle while we went inside, we ate and left. Getting to the ClickList parking spot just barely in time. I call the number. A woman, who sounds like she's had a long day, answers; asks my name, and then her voice tone changes to defensive. Telling me they tried to call; couldn't leave a message because I don't have voicemail (true); and that they aren't able to fill my order tonight but can do it tomorrow. Or I can cancel it.
In my mind, I'm thinking. Its EIGHT O'CLOCK. I didn't have my phone with me for less than NINETY MINUTES. WHY didn't they know this in the OTHER FOUR HOURS after I placed my order?!?!? But, instead of losing my temper and getting frustrated at her over the phone, I calmly said to cancel it. With 4 kids and my husband in the car, I asked to let me go in alone and just do the shopping myself. My first and last stop was produce. They were out of a variety of baby carrots, except for a huge 2lb bag. Ok, no problem, I'll get bell peppers. Except they were squashy feeling and prune-like. I looked around and there were a number of empty spots, so I just left. What was the point of getting only some groceries needed when I had already been dissapointed three times in a matter of minutes and would have to end up soipping somewhere else anyway.
I know this is really long. But I am so very irritated. Yesterday was really the only easy option for our family to go Krogering this week. And Englewood Kroger screwed it up. Not only did they screw it up, which i really don't have that much of a problem with. But the woman who answered sounded condescending and irritated at ME for not having voicemail, for not having my phone on for the LATTER 90 minutes of the 5 hours and 20 minutes after my order had been placed. All of that without an apology that I can recall nor an explanation for their failure. Really Englewood Kroger, so very...
Read moreThis is the worst Kroger I have ever had the misfortune of having to use, due to moving north of Dayton. Their Click List service is an absolute JOKE. I have only been using this store for 3 months, and I cannot count the amount of times they notify me an hour before that my Click List order will have to be moved back 4 + hours, or even the next day. I've also received a can of Pringles without the plastic lid, strawberries with black/mold on them on SEVERAL occasions, several dented cans, bad corn, etc. over these last few months. I sat in my car and watched a worker bring out someone's Click List, open their trunk, and have the customer's trunk smash into the cart because they didn't have it moved far enough away!!! Today was the final straw. I had a Click List order to be picked up between 4:00-5:00 tonight. They called me at 3:00 - ONE HOUR BEFORE - to tell me my order had to be pushed back to 8:00 tonight. I had a birthday cake and candles in this order for a birthday dinner tonight at 6:00. I told them this was unacceptable. They did absolutely nothing about it. Choosing a pick up time slot ahead of time clearly means nothing to them. I told them the situation and they did nothing to make it right. I had them cancel the entire order and said I'd never be back. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY AT THIS KROGER. I'll be driving further to use another company/grocery just to avoid them from now on. They are despicable and I'd give NO...
