Despite the blistering snowstorm, I decided to venture into the cold parking lot to hit up their food truck for lunch. Boy am I glad I did. Five stars each for both the service and the food. I got the brisket and pork, and both were excellent. I actually liked them both better than pricier places, like R&R. The flavor was excellent, but more than that, half of my serving wasn't fat. In fact, there was virtually no fat in my serving at all, it had been trimmed well, and so I got actual meat for the entire serving. The sweet sauce was excellent as well. For sides, I did chili beans, mac n cheese, and coleslaw. The slaw was the best I've had. It had a bit of a fruity or sweet flavor (can't quite put my finger on it, like a subtle pear flavor or something), and was amazing. The beans and mac were both also top notch. Very cheesy mac (and not the cheap cheese). The service was with a smile and he was very friendly. While everyone's preferences are different, I would highly recommend you try this place. Even if your tastes are different than mine, the service will be excellent and at least the food is high quality and well prepared, even if you don't...
Read morePulled pork was decent, it is overly moist and I can't pick out much smoke flavor, maybe needs to spend more time in smoke and less in liquid.
Brisket had good flavor, the only meat of the trio that I picked up the smoky flavor on, however it was overlooked.
Chicken was only identifiable as chicken by its visuals there was so much salt, there was no way to tell you were eating meat at all.
Baked beans were good, mac n cheese tasted like a vat of processed cheese with a bit of flavor and noodles, but better than some I've had.
Slaw was interesting, strong hint of apple in the sauce, not like other slaws I've had, but complimented the meal.
The portion size was large and this is a huge plus for a food truck. It sucks spending 12 bucks on lunch and being hungry again by 2pm for some dinky Asian taco a salad and an over inflated sense of trendiness. This meal filled me well done on this.
All in all it won't blow you away and it's no example of competition style BBQ, but it is a refreshing take on what can sometimes seem like a bit of a rip-off in food trucks. I will eat...
Read moreThis seriously has to be the best BBQ I've ever had. I'm not joking. I had both the brisket and the pork sandwich with the sweet Carolina sauce. BAM! This was so good, it was almost impossible to stop eating! The sides were delicious as well. Their macaroni and cheese is decadent. The coleslaw was like I remember it when my mom fixed it for us as kids. Nicely dressed, slightly sweet, and with a bit of zing. I'm pretty sure I enjoyed a hint of horseradish in that slaw. Again, seriously good. The beans were delicious and paired nicely with one of the sauces with a bit of heat. The potato salad, topped with some Carolina Sweet sauce was good enough to be a meal on it's own. One encounter with these folks (the Greers were a hoot to talk to!) and their cuisine, and I'm a fan. You gotta try them. You won't be...
