I wish I could give them no stars. I have been a customer at this particular ace forever, and today me and my son had a horrible experience. A Ace employee was following us the entire time we shopped. When we went to check out, he accused us of stealing a can of paint. We never even went to the paint section. He knows this though because he followed us the whole time, making us feel uncomfortable, then accused us of stealing, and then walked away. I believe that he was a racist! and intentionally followed us to make us feel deliberately uncomfortable I told him when he confronted us at the register pull up your cameras then he walks away what else could it be I never in my life have been treated so poorly at a store then I was at this Ace hardware today I will never shop there again and will tell everyone I know what happened and to not do business there and I tried to call and complain but this individual said he was the manager right now when I started to say what happened he said real as if oh yeah that was me and I said then you are not who I want to talk to you are who I'm complaining about I let him know exactly what I thought about the situation that i believe that he was racist he then says he is native American I replied, You don't look like it, and he hangs up on me. I called back repeatedly and left a message for a different person, but again, he follows us the entire time we shop, embarrasses us, and accuses us of stealing with no proof. I call it how I see it. I believe him to be racist, and he is trying to defend himself by saying he is a native American. I say you don't look like it, and he hangs up on me. For the love of Christ, who is training these people, he is acting. like he is the victim. No, that would be us, the ones you followed and accused of stealing without proof! I was trying to buy a wheelbarrow but the employee was talking to someone so I looked around on my own then asked a different employee for help and the asked the lady talking to help me. She was just watching me looking around confused while talking to her COWORKER and seemed annoyed that she had to help me.
The main reason for this review though is yesterday I went to buy paint and the man at the counter was extremely short with me and rude because I didn't add my paint and name to the computer last time but I didn't think I'd need more but I did the next day...I had the swatch though and gave it to him. He rolled his eyes and sneered and told his coworker "see, this is what I'm talking about". It was so freaking weird. Why is the paint counter guy mad that I'm buying more paint? I also saw him be rude to an old lady looking for cleaning supplies. So weird, I like Ace but I'll be going to Pearson's from now on because I'm not trying to do relaxing work around my house on my day off and deal with some weird little angry man who can't handle typing Sunburst Orange...
Read moreHad a very unfortunate experience at this store. This is the first review I've ever left, but I felt compelled to because my experience was quite negative.
First of all I was brought into the store with a coupon mailed to me since I was new to the neighborhood. I went in there and although they did honor the coupon they kind of gave me a hassle the first time, but I did buy something and left. The item I bought broke within one month, it was a hand garden tool.
I took it back expecting some sort of understanding or good service, but the first question out of their mouth was where's your receipt? Well I don't save receipts for everything that I purchase, so I told him I didn't have one.
He told me well we can't do anything for you.
To me the fact that they didn't even look at the part to see if it was one they carried or any other way tried to take care of me indicates that there is bad and negative energy in that store!
I will never return...
