Booked — Local services in Evanston Township

I cannot believe I have never written a review for Booked, one of the best places to find joy in all of Evanston! First of all, the owners Abby and Betsy are pure delight and sunshine - and so well read to boot, which makes offering recs easy peasy! We also love the cute lil door upon entering for the kiddos, and you will find so many surprises as you wander through the bookshop. I personally can never leave without buying a sticker or four:). Also, folks, please remember that you can find books for kids AND adults here, as well as gift cards. If they don’t have what you’re looking for, simply ask and they can likely order it. LASTLY (sorry for shouting), BUY YOUR BOOKS FROM INDEPENDENT BOOKSELLERS. This is a must if we want them to stick around. And locally purchased books make everyone happy, amirite????...

At first this place was my kids favorite bookstore because of the cute door within a door for kiddos, but now they are too tall for it (though they will occasionally duck for old times sake), but now it's our favorite for the sense of community we get there. Both my children attend clubs there, free of charge, that have become so central to their lives. Betsy, Abby, Eden, and Gus have gotten to know my kids and always know the right book to recommend. What's bizarre is that although we've been on this street a million times, we never noticed Booked until the other day. And once we did, we kicked ourselves for not having found such a wonderful children's bookstore earlier. You can tell this is a passion project and every detail is perfectly thought out.
