Chicago-Main Newsstand — Local services in Evanston Township

Before Internet dominance, this newsstand was more rundown, probably because newsstands were common and there wasn't a need to celebrate or preserve them. Thanks to the City of Evanston, this newsstand continues to exist (reduced rent), and it's a very nice, clean space. I absolutely love this place! I live in the neighborhood and stop in often before getting on the El Train. It has exactly what you need for snacks and drinks. Plus all the great reading material you find at a news stand. It makes me proud when a out of towner sees it and wants to go in. We take places like this for granted. Until they are gone. Spend money here so it stays here. You never know when you need a last minute paper and drink running...

The seller wouldn’t sell me more than 5 copies of Chicago magazine, And denied me when I asked if I could purchase more. Strange move for a newsstand, would have loved to give them more business had I not been denied a sale because they want some “for other readers?” I’ve never had a business do this and it might be useful to train this person better, especially since I drove 30 minutes to pick up magazines from this...
