Pros of Wegmans: I LOVE how they have everything you would want in the store at good prices (esp of wegmans brands) and the food is of quality. I also really care about how the people are so kind and helpful that makes the busy sometimes stressful experience of shopping great. Helping hands is really a terrific thing that those in need can use. I really only shop here because I love this store so much even though I drive by other grocery stores on the way. The pharmacy is fantastic as well. Everyone works so hard their I give it to them. I esp love the food that they have made up that you can take home and finish yourself for a meal. The chefs are really nice. The best place ever.
Random Cons: I bought almond unsweetend milk vanilla on a tuesday night at the very end of my shopping trip so it would stay cold(even though its december and i live very close). The next day i opened the milk up (yes immediately put it in the fridge) and it was very bad-very thick and lumpy. Expiration date of Feb 2nd which was forever away.
I know that the store goes through a decent amount of the product so im not sure if it was left out or something and put back or just contaminated in the making.
It was the wegmans brand. I love this brand and its been great for a long time but im just writing this for anyone with auto immune problems to watch out for the ones packaged with the date of feb 2. They usually produce a lot at once with the same date so unfortunately you might have to try another brand for a bit.
One other thing it would be really cool if they had a scale at the food bar and a sign that said dont put food back. They told me they wont put a scale bc people would put food back. I would just appreciate to know how much i have while im filling up my tray so i dont pay 20-30 dollars for one tray. I would eat at the hot food bar much more often if I would know how much it cost, rather than about 2-3 times a year max.
I know I sound very female dog like in the above but its just something that would be nice. I know they need to make money to pay their bills. I just would eat at the food bar much more often if i could predict how much...
Read moreI live a block from this store. It is good for a quick trip but prefer driving the extra 2.5 miles to Whole Foods. I am disappointed with Wegmans.
Their pricing is NOT cheaper than WF's and the quality has steadily dropped. They periodically re-arrange the inventory and it is up to you to go find them. This has been going on for several years now and it is annoying!
Fish and Meat Dept quality has gone down, prices have gone up. Deceptive marketing: They have a sign on the meat display that says "all natural". I asked the guy behind the counter about the sign and he said that it doesn't apply but to one item on display!!! (thanks for the honesty!)
The Bakery is basically a chem factory and some of their "locally baked" items don't even list the ingredients. The "Variety Danish 24Pk" has a list of ingredients so long, that it reads like a grocery bill receipt. What happened to plain and simple ingredients?
I asked a manager about changing the price on the larger Rachael Ray dog food bags. They cost MORE per pound than the smaller bags. He said he would look into it several months ago...
The flower shop is inexpensive but for a reason, the flowers have no smell. They also sell these plants in a pot with what you think is soil but is 100% filler. The plant is dead in a week. Nice marketing!
Wegmans used to have the wine and beer shop downstairs. Now they moved the entire inventory up stairs and have taken over 15% of the store. The shop below is no longer used. They said they plan on using it as a storage area for inventory... must be for foods that never expire? I am seriously...
Read moreWegmans is forcing customers to pay for their charity by paying $.05 for each paper bag. The scam put forth to steal more of our money by Fairfax County government workers is for plastic bags, but you'll notice you still have to pay for paper. Rather than Wegmans using their own profits for their own charities, they have simply decided to force customers to pay for paper bags at the same new tax rate for plastic bags and then give the money to charity. I just went to Harris Teeter today and realized the bags were free, so I called to ask Wegmans about why we have to pay for their paper bags. Also, I got a ton of stuff for $140 at Harris Teeter, including the 24pack of Egglands Best eggs that only they have for an awesome price. It has gotten harder and harder to save money at Wegmans. On top of that, they have stopped carrying the Alaffia 32oz lotion I have been buying from Wegmans for at least a decade!!! Now they only have a 16oz, for the same $10 the 32oz has been for over 10 years!! Meaning it's now double the price! Only under Biden did the lotion go up a couple bucks. Now it's just gone. Sorry but I think I am leaving you...
