I had the misfortune of dining at this restaurant and it was an appalling experience. First of all: When we inquired about the type of cuisine offered, the owner boasted it spans seven countries ( India, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, Greece etc...)—a claim that seems ludicrous. How can any chef master such a diverse range? Unless the chef has some magical powers, , I find it hard to believe that they could competently prepare food from seven different countries. Her refusal to specify the cuisines raises serious questions. What exactly is she hiding? The food was a greasy mess, completely lacking any semblance of freshness. The rice, which was advertised to include meat, was deceitfully plain and unappetizing. Worse yet, the meat we received was tough as leather and clearly not fresh, tasting like it had been sitting out for days. The samosa was soaked in repeatedly used oil, and tasted absolutely terrible. We asked the manager politely to replace a dish that was unexpectedly too spicy for us to enjoy. Rather than accommodating our reasonable request, the manager responded with hostility . The manager was blatantly rude, demonstrating a shocking lack of professionalism She yelled at our group in front of the entire restaurant, creating an embarrassing and uncomfortable scene. Shockingly, she declared that the dish was not too spicy and she would eat the dish herself(It's appalling to consider eating food that was returned by another customer; that idea alone is repulsive) and brazenly told us to never return to the restaurant.. We were forced to pay for food that we didn't even touch. Furthermore, it was painfully evident that she favors certain customers over others. . This blatant display of unprofessionalism and discrimination has no place in any establishment, let alone in the hospitality industry. No one should have to endure such disgraceful treatment. This establishment is a complete failure in both management and culinary standards. This restaurant is a disgrace to the culinary industry. I urge everyone to steer clear of this place. They should be ashamed of serving such...
Read moreUpdating my review from a few years ago when this restaurant was managed by the original owners and chefs. Since then, the ownership appears to have changed twice. Today's experience was no comparison to what we originally experienced. The sabzi dish was basically steamed spinach, lacking flavor. The samosa was delivered with what appears to be yellow mayo-like sauce which they stated was yogurt based, but its consistency and sheen was reminiscent of mayo and the flavor and color was not appealing. The hummus is not what you would expect, it has the brown appearance of baba ganoush but they stated it was hummus. The flavor profile was unique, not bad, but I was expecting a traditional hummus with fresh olive oil. The bolanee kachaloo was a little under-cooked and a bit oily, but had a reasonable taste. I asked for extra tzaitszki sauce and a hot sauce and was not told I would be charged for it. They also add an automatic 18% gratuity for less than five and 20% for more than 5 people.
Original Review (years ago) In India, Mazadar translates to exuberant satisfaction. Well, this restaurant lives up to its name. it was our first visit to this restaurant today, and as vegetarians, we were a bit hesitant to consider it, but I'm glad we did. Each vegetarian dish from hummus, sambosa, bolanee, and spinach to fresh naan and even dessert (firnee and carrot halwa with persian ice cream) were superb in quality and freshness. I have very high expectations of any restaurant since I am a cook myself, so we were all pleasantly pleased with the food, service and ambiance. I highly recommend anyone looking for a true cultural experience to try this restaurant. We will certainly return and I would recommend going after sundown for the...
Read moreWonderful first time experience eating here with my husband and our two friends. Our friends had actually been here before & love eating here. All the food & beverages from start to finish were wonderful...well-seasoned, fresh & cooked just right. Our first time eating Barg and Mantu so I couldn't tell you how it was supposed to taste but it was great from the beauty of how it was created to the spices that came alive in my mouth. The Kubideh was some of the best I've had outside the Middle East and the black tea reminded me of all the times I had it when we had visited there this year. The meals were accompanied by a lovely mound of basmati rice and freshly baked bread with two sauces for dipping on the side. The Persian Ice cream made with rosewater, saffron & pistachios with a heavy cream on the bed of ice cubes was just the perfect ending...refreshingly light for ice cream with the saffron adding that extra depth & so subtly sweetened. You truly showed you understand how to showcase the use of rosewater in a dessert which very few places do. It was a true delight to eat here & learn that you grind your own meat and spices which truly shows how much care you put into your food. It was our pleasure to eat here in such beautiful surroundings - even the restrooms show the card you chose in decorating them - and we do look forward to a follow up visit very soon. Thank you again for the wonderful experience and the excellent...
