My husband and I visited Jazzy on this last Sat. We had been here on several occasions and always had a pretty decent time, but this situation left a sour taste. We decided to sit on the loveseat near the front door. there were no signs saying that seat was reserved, even though there were reserved seating signs on other tables there wasn't one on this table and since we had sat there before we didn't think it would be an issue. We ordered drinks and was just chilling until the show started. We were there about 30 minutes and was approached by security and was told we had to move. According to security, he was told to tell us we needed to move because the seat was reserved, but again there wasn't a reserved sign. Security acknowledged there wasn't a reserved seating sing, apologized and stated we still had to move. A couple that was sitting near us and was observing what was happening invited us to sit at their "reserved" table. Around 15 minutes later a Caucasian man came in and was seated at the loveseat. I believe the owner came over and sat with the man until the man left. Once the Caucasian man left the next couple who entered sat on the loveseat, with no issue. I kinda felt like we had just experienced a Rosa Parks incident. We were asked to move for the Caucasian man. I don't know if we were discriminated against, but it felt very unsettling and somewhat embarrassing. I'm not sure what the Caucasian man relationship is with the owner/establishment. I just know my husband and I spent $150 that night and was treated in a pretty tacky manner. And I am positive if this had been a white establishment that asked us to give up our seat for a white man, the repercussions to that establishment would have been...
Read moreMy first time here was on a date recommended by, of course, my date because it was closer to her home. I was wondering what I was getting myself into as I'm not that big of a fan of jazz. One of the first things I noticed was that the dj seemed a bit excited. I'd even made a comment about potentially some additive helping him along the way. The singer was really good. She had range and presence-as if she were used to larger venues and this was more intimate and comfortable. The choice of songs was really good. And the band breakdown where they go on a little solo... yeah!! The sax guy, guitarist (yeah, bro did the thing!), and that drummer-really the whole band-got it in and showcased great skill. And then the band took a break. DJ Word is Bond's marketing people clearly aren't invested in this precious gem-I've never heard of him... but the man was ON ONE! Yeah, I watched and listened to him do an excellent job of music selection, crowd involvement, and streaming duties. And when the band retired for the evening and it was his show again, once more bro showed out. I was pleasantly suprised at what was delivered. Had a great time and will definitely return OFTEN. My only complaint was the waitress. NOT attentive, not social, and very slow with the service. But even with that, I can go get me and my date's drinks, I'm definitely returning OFTEN with my date......
Read moreWe were a group of 11. We arrive 5 minutes before 6, when they opened. But they didn't open. It was hot outside. We discussed where to go for dinner since this place was obviously not open. Then I decided to call them and finally someone answered. He said yes we will open and I asked now??, it's after 6 and hot out here. He said...uuuuh, let me call someone because I'm not there. Well, someone came to let us in a few minutes later. After she let us in, she disappeared and we stood in the vestibule waiting, wondering. Finally she came to check on us...and let us know to come in, so we had to move tables together so we could sit down. Long story with waits, as we wondered the process. Finally she took our food orders but not drink orders. I asked about drinks and she told us what they had, so we ordered drinks. Some of us wanted water so she told us they only sell bottled water. No other water was available. Then she came back around to each of us to re-ask what we ordered, so we could pay. Yes, you pay before you eat...sitting in their dining room. So odd. But then the food came and it was delicious. Oh, our leader had called ahead and been assured Tuesday night was good and they were open and we didn't need a reservation. So what happened? Did they "forget" a large group was coming?? But kudos to the people in the kitchen. The food was...
