I have been considering having my audio upgraded on my '17 Street Glide. I had the Boom Stage II in the fairings and rear bags.
I've stopped in a couple of times and the folks there were always helpful and friendly with my questions. As well, I've done some checking online and they are a well regarded audio and custom motorcycle shop.
I was about to pull the trigger on a system that was nearly twice as much money as I ended up spending with Watt's, but I would have done the install myself. I was going to replace the speakers in the upper fairing, add pods and speakers to the lowers and then replace the rears bag speakers with bigger 6x9s. I gave one last call over to Watts and I talked to Steve. He suggested I come in and listen to some options. He showed me a bike similar to mine with a similar setup and the sound was significantly fuller and richer than my Boom system. Steve also suggested I hold off on adding the lowers. He felt that the leap we were making from what I have to what Watts was gong to install was so great, lowers would not be needed. He was right.
I'm really glad I stopped in. I had envisioned and hoped for an end result. I didn't want a booming loud system, I wanted a really great sounding system with a little more volume. Not only does the system sound amazing, but I can hear it at highway speeds without having to turn it up fully. They used the old head unit and cast their tech joo joo on that somehow and then used one amp to power replacements in the fairing and in the rear bag lids. We were able to fit larger 6x9s in the lids with some customization and they did not have to sacrifice the auto locks in the bags. The entire install was clean and professional. I was glad to see them eliminate the second boom amplifier in the bag. Overall, the larger 6x9s are a net loss of cargo space in the bags, but the loss of the amplifier from the left bag offsets that loss partially.
I've listened to the system for about 20 hours or so since the install and I couldn't be more pleased. The 6x9s deliver a nice full clean bass sound compared to the 5x7 Boom speakers. As well, while I lose the bass at highway speeds, the rear speaker deliver a really full mid and high range sound. Harley has a distinctive looking offset tweeter on the 6 1/2s in the fairing and it's a great design. HDs speaker setup looks better. The sound from the new component speakers; however, are in a different class.
Because the new components allow them to create not only louder sound, but exception high quality sound, I've been able to listen to music I didn't think I'd be able to enjoy on my bike. Quieter acoustic music comes through just as loud and clear. As obvious as this should have been, I didn't realize how much I'd enjoy this benefit. I love the sound on my bike thanks to the experts at Watt's.
They are super busy. As much as anyone may try to claim otherwise, there isn't a better place to take your motorcycle for an audio upgrade. As well, the shop was busy with custom fabrications and service work.
Thanks to all the guys there for making my bike audio dreams come true. You guys...
Read moreWow is all I can say. Try to keep it brief. I was having issue with my new sound system I bought elsewhere. When I added amp I needed assistance cause 4 times of Removing faring and not getting the results I wanted for the money spent. I reluctantly called for help. I told my sad story over the phone and they said can you bring it in? Next morning at shop they diagnosed my issue , tweaked my components and made it all work. Then they pointed out my front 2 speakers were bad. Rotted. I told them I was on a budget but would like speaker up grades down the road but can't do at moment. The owner left for a minute and came back with 2 gently used Rockford fosgate speaker and installed them for free till I can come back. Above that he gave me a tee shirt. Outstanding service, compassion for a bro who was down, made my day, can't say enough good words. Sorry you three I'm bad on names but you know who you are if you read this. Thank you so much.. See you soon.. Watts cycle rules. Customer for...
Read moreOne word. AMAZING! After being swindled at a used car lot and ending up with a nice vehicle with 1 key and no keyfob Watt's Audio & Cycle Works hooked me up big time! See Im a single mom and its winter and I'll cut to the chase; juggling a diaper bag with a toddler on your hip, dodging ice traps trying to unlock your vehicle with a a single keyhole is less than desirable in fact it straight blows and is a struggle. So I called up Watt's to see if they could help me with keyless entry. They told me they could definitely help me out so I brought my car up to them and guess what: they found a nice after-market Python remote start system had been installed. 10 minutes later not only did I have keyless entry with the bonus of remote start but Shawn, the owner, was taking me step by step through how to use it. Just amazing. I would recommend them to anyone!!!! They truely helped me out in the best...
