Long Review:
Are you a disabled veteran? Older? Bigger or not in shape? Are you a lady that might not want to train with 20 year old spasmodic kids trying to compete in tournaments? I have been here a few months, but my son has been training for a year. So I feel that my review is fair and unbiased. If you’re any of the aforementioned groups, this is a great place to start or end depending on your journey. I am a bigger, disabled veteran. I have been wanting to train for some time, for (mental health & physical reasons). After getting to know Stan (Our Coach) and Jess (his wife) that assists with the kids class, I have nothing but amazing things to say about them. My son (as I mentioned) has been here 1 year, he loves this school, his teammates and his coaches, he doesn’t want to miss a day of training bc he is so engaged. As for me and any others who may share a similar journey or haven’t found their place. This is is it man! Come thru, say what’s up, come try a class and see that our culture is legitimately like a family. No crazy expectations, work at your own pace, Coach Stan understands that a 300lb person can’t move like a 20 year old 120lb male. There is no discrimination or bad attitudes, only acceptance. I was nervous too, but I wouldn’t change my choice to do what I did and that is to earn my white belt in BJJ at F2W Fayetteville. See you...
Read moreCoach Stan responded to my inquiry about a trial class within an hour of submitting it. I did my free trial and by the time class was over, I knew that this was a gym worth committing to.
The training style goes back to the roots of what BJJ is all about - self-defense. The training is progressive and builds on itself, so at the end of class you’re left with a functional sequence with applicability in real life.
Everyone was super friendly and welcoming to a complete stranger, who just got off a five year hiatus with BJJ. Going to a new gym whether you’re experienced or new can be intimidating and you never know what you’re going to get - do yourself a favor and show up! You won’t regret it.
The facilities are really nice, too. You can tell that cleanliness is a priority, which is huge in my book having suffered ringworm a time or two in other places in the past. There is ample space both on the mats and off, so for rolling or just watching you’ve got room.
Needless to say, I’m glad I chose this place to continue my journey, after just one trial class. You should...
Read moreI can’t say enough good things about Royce Gracie Fayetteville, NC! After trying out a few BJJ gyms in the area and having some pretty rough experiences, I finally found my home here. From the moment I walked in, I felt the difference. The environment is so welcoming and safe—something I didn’t find at the other places I tried. Everyone is friendly, supportive, and really takes the time to make you feel comfortable.
Coach Stan is absolutely amazing! Not only is he incredibly skilled, but he's also super approachable and takes the time to explain techniques, especially when you’re rolling with him. He’s genuinely invested in helping you understand each move and how to improve. I’ve learned so much in such a short time, and it’s all thanks to his teaching style.
It feels like a family here. The team atmosphere is so positive, and there’s always someone willing to help you out. Whether you're a beginner or more advanced, you’re never made to feel like you're out of place. If you're looking for a place to train BJJ pull up! I’m so glad I found this gym...
