I have attended weekend seminars at CPAMMA each of the last 2 years. It has been a tremendous experience each time. This is one of only a few places in the country where I have been wowed by the quality of the facility so much so that I would write about it.
The facility is clean, well organized, and large enough to accommodate multiple programs without things getting crowded. The instruction is top notch, as well as the talent the school attracts–both as students and instructors.
As for the instruction itself, CPAMMA is able to assemble guest instructors that are at the top pf their respective arts. I was able to attend the Dog Brothers Martial Arts Summer camps in 2015 and 2016, and each of them were absolutely incredible.
Both left me with enough material and variations on material to give my group enough to practice for the coming year, and I still revisit what was covered quite a bit. Any time you have the chance to train with Punong Guro Marc "Crafty Dog" Denny, Eric "Top Dog" Knaus and Benjamin "Lonely Dog" Rittener under one roof, you take it. The fact that it is in such an amazing facility makes it a no-brainer.
I have left feeling fortunate each of the last two years I have attended, and look forward to making it...
Read moreTo say I've enjoyed my time here is an understatement. I feel like I’ve progressed so much in BJJ this year; it’s incredible. I always look forward to going to CPAMMA. There’s nothing but good vibes. I’ve met so many people in sparring too. Like just this past week I ran into 5 people from class on campus, which is pretty remarkable when you consider just how big it is. Instruction is top quality, you will learn moves that work for gi and no-gi, sport and self defense, in a clear and straightforward manner.
On a more serious note the idea of starting some sort of fight training when you’ve never done it before is definitely daunting. When I first started way back over a year ago, the #1 thing (among many other great things!) that made me come back for the second class was how welcoming everyone was. I’m so glad I decided to stick with it; I have changed so positively in the past year as a person it’s ridiculous. I 100% recommend going to CPAMMA to anyone looking to get their fighting fix, try something new, or just...
Read moreI came to State College three months after start training jiujitsu. And I've been a part of CPA MMA Ever since and now I am a blue belt and joining this Jiujitsu academy has been one of my best decisions I’ve made ever since I got here. The facility is pretty big and the number of practitioners who come to the classes are usually around 30 to 40 people. You will always find people from beginners to black black belts and that what makes this gym so unique. Everyone are super friendly and super helpful, and you're going to learn a lot of things from everyone, specially Ryan, the instructor. CPA MMA is an ideal jiujitsu school for people who want to compete. Ryan has a van and takes us to different competitions and coaches us. Trust me you will have a lot of fun competing. There are classes every day and you can come to any of them and have some fun doing jujitsu. I would highly suggest everyone to visit it at least once. I assure you, you will not be...
