Went to Far Corners for Korean instant ramen and was pleasantly surprised. They offer Chinese, Japanese, Korean etc. instant ramen which is actually organized by country on the shelves as well as snacks (Pocky, Pretz, Cream Collon, Crisp Choco, Lotte Pandas, various chips and cookies etc.), drinks (Ramune, Calpico, various teas etc.) and cooking ingredients (glutinous rice flour, red pepper paste, nori sheets, rice, noodles, sauces, furikake etc.). They also have a frozen food section and fresh produce both of which I didn't really look at so I can't really say anything about those. Will check them out next time. I ended up buying 2x Chacharoni, 1x Samyang Spicy Chicken, 2x Umami Tonkotsu ramen and 1x Nongshim Kimchi ramen plus a few snacks for my son for about $12. The ramen was between $1.25 and $2 (big bowl kind) per piece. Oh they also sell bowls and other miscellaneous household items/small appliances there. I will go back in a few weeks...
Read moreI know when my gut is telling me that I'm not welcomed somewhere. I walked in here with my boyfriend to buy some Daikon and needless to say, the vibe that the Asian cashier woman was giving me was so off putting that I didnt even want to spend another second there. Call me crazy, but I compared the way that she interacted with the other Asian guests and she seemed very friendly, and said hello, and made eye contact, but she couldn't even look at me or say hello when she rang me up and she had this scowl on her face the entire time. The situation was very uncomfortable for my bf and I. I'm very aware of how dark skinned or people of African descent are viewed in the Asian community, so it's a shame that there are people who still have prejudiced mindsets like this. Will not...
Read moreGo to East Asian Market on Atherton. Their service and food preservation are way better than Far Corner. Watch out for the items you actually get and those they put into the register. We have encountered countless times that extra green onions or extra instant noodle that showed up on the receipts we didn't actually buy. I believe it has nothing to do with not paying attention. It is dishonest. Besides that, we also had diarrhea because of their expired buns. We went back and asked for a refund and their first instincts are to question whether those buns are from their shop, even we brought the receipt with us! Guys, avoid this place otherwise you will be pissed...
