This place has Whole Foods prices and WinCo quality, if that. Among the selections: $3.49 off sale for a 1 liter bottle of Polar Seltzer, over 100% more expensive than other stores! Then I paid $10.99 for a horrible "chicken parmesan" sandwich that was mostly just poor-quality bread. It had some flavorless cubed chicken that probably came from a Tyson freezer bag (not even breaded like a proper chicken parm), along with some half-melted shreds of parmesan and 2 scant teaspoons of tomato sauce. At Edaleen they will make you a sandwich that's actually pretty good for half the cost! Oh, and a lot of the house-made bakery/deli items also have hydrogenated oils, so they're a health hazard. Great!

The store is in a convenient location next to the Tesla chargers. I visited the market while waiting for the car being charged and purchase a box of Rio rancho Tostada Bowls last night. When I open the box this afternoon for lunch, I smelled rancid oil from the bowls which were fried in oil. When checked on the box for expiry date, it has the stamp of 030123. The store should protect the customers by NOT selling food items past the expiry date, or say so if it is its general policy. There is no excuse of selling the item that was expired such a long time ago. I feel disappointed and cheated.

They didn’t have a lot and it was quite expensive but we found what we were looking for. The apples were crazy expensive tho! $4.29/lb for big soles is basically $4.29 for one apple. Not organic either so half the weight is the lovely, waxy film. 🤢 But bags were a plus and a surprise. Colorado got rid of plastic bags so now we have to bring our own or carry out our items, not to mention stop to show our receipt which is totally ridiculous. These bags are so sturdy and easily reusable. I’m taking them home.

“Drew” the manager at The Market at Birch Bay is such a Peach in the grocery business. Such great changes in the department heads and resulting in a whole new look and feel coming to our beach!! Quality and display are really sparkling now! Most of the employees are extremely helpful and happy. There is nothing better to see and feel happy workers that love what they are doing in like a team effort -as it should be and feel -when I come to shop! Organization and fine detail and fair and reasonable pricing is what I want. I know this is a convenience having a grocery store out at the beach or 5 miles from our beach but.. it has nearly everything I need year round.. not just beach party season but year round to find local fare and great cheeses and fresh fish to include superior sushi at super Wednesday pricing!! Sandwiches custom made find people in line come high noon! If there are US Custom agents and volunteer firemen and the local Deputy wanting hot sandwiches.. The Market rocks..

The Produce looks stellar with the new hotshot manager harvested from another superior priced grocery store! Fruit and vegetables standing tall and proud makes me drool to go home with me. The latest and greatest salad packs and when our manager knew the WSU Apple “Cosmic Crisp” was coming to our produce section..he knew every detail about its history long before it hit Birch Bay!! I love it when I ask about products on the shelves and under lights in the many departments ....“Drew’s” crew has or finds answers now!! Not in 20 minutes but now!! Join me in meeting Drew and my “friendly” grocers at The Market At Birch Bay”... oh Drew supports our little beach community too.. the latest are dozens of cookies donated for our new library/community center’s bake sale last week! A little 9 year old girl asked Drew if he could help her with her bake sale so we all can have a beach library and place to meet our friends.. Drew pulled out personal cash like other listening grocery customers and they all gave her bundles of bills ..and the store donated bundles of store baked cookies!!! The bake sale was a huge hit.. the little chick brought in over $2000 .. we all believe in community! We love Birch Bay and we love our Market at the Birch Bay/Lynden exit off of I-5. Tell Drew I sent you in to meet him.. he’s always there with a huge smile and hand shake and he hugs me 😘

-Yvonne...

The Market is an oasis of good food, pleasant layout and wonderfully helpful staff. Not your typical mega supermarket, The Market is a smaller more gourmet oriented grocery store with local roots. Their in house bakery makes exceptional pies and pastries. They have a wonderful deli that makes fantastic fried chicken and an in-store sushi chef makes authentic Japanese sushi. The seafood selection is especially good for a store this size as is cheese and wine. The highlight of their offerings though has to be produce. The Markets offers an exceptionally diverse selection of produce all of which is fresh and well presented. You won't find the lowest prices or the biggest selection here but you will find what you need and it will be fresh and tasty. The staff are all very friendly and often busy making sure the shelves are stocked and the store is always neat and clean. Finally, the store manager Shaun has got to be one of the friendliest and most helpful people you will ever encounter. He takes time to greet customers, he talks to them and gets to know them personally. He is always willing to go the extra mile to find something they need, help them check out or solve some problem. He knows many customers by name and shows genuine interest in people who shop there. Shauns presence creates a warm and inviting atmosphere in the store that you can feel. Its no wonder that the staff are so friendly and hard working because Shaun sets a terrific example for them to follow. The Markets is a store that one could easily overlook in favor of bigger, flashier, low cost alternatives. But if you enjoy less crowded aisles, friendlier staff, quality produce, meat and seafood, a top notch bakery and deli and an overall more pleasant shopping environment you'll love the Markets. For me, they are the perfect balance of all the important things I want in a grocery store without all the stuff I don't need. They have earned my business because of their honest, friendly approach and by doing things the right way. I am a loyal customer and plan on staying one for the...

Today I was limited in time. Did not have a good experience & here's why: I'm shopping at 830a on a Sunday. I'm not expecting delays, & I've already been held up overtime @ other stops. So I'm rushed and hv an appt to get to. I rarely shop at this market - guess what, I won't be coming back. Not bc of the store itself, but the female teller this morning. There are NO cashiers open, but lots of staff. I saw 3 people stocking shelves, 2 men at the front cashier tills talking together, none offering to open a till, and no one monitoring self serve, the only thing open. Very "Don't Care" vibe here. Ok, guess I gotta do it myself. Fine. But I'm floored there are no cashiers. I'm struggling to get my recycled bag open and I'm getting frustrated under my breath. Out of no where comes this female staff RIGHT BEHIND me, way too close in my personal space, freaked me out. I guess she was trying to be helpful, but read the room. I quickly said "No help thx" no eye contact. Now shes offended i guess bc she thinks I'm in a bad mood - so she shot a patronizing "have a happy holiday" in a shitty tone - not the nice kind that helps people. To this lady - you meant to be unkind, & had no idea what i was going thru. I wasn't unkind to you, just rushed & already dissappointed in your store. You didn't help matters. Frankly - that was a crappy spiteful attitude masquerading as Xmas spirit. To the manager: talk to your staff about better service....
