We purchased a VC Resolute from Feens about 30 years ago, and were extremely happy with the quality. Due to the age of the stove, approximately 8 years ago we replaced it with a Vermont Castings Acclaim model 2490 from Feen's. We had noticed, for quite some time, that the combustion package was crumbling in the rear of the stove. This is a $700 part, materials only. We found out that they don't use this same type of material for the combustion package due to manufacturing defects. I called Feen's, spoke to an associate, and explained the situation to her. She told me that, due to the problems that VC has had with the combustion package, (being "made" out of particle board), they changed to a ceramic combustion package. I asked her if Feen's would stand by this, she told me she would have the owner (Bob) call me. I waited most of the day, but no call. I called back and spoke to Bob, he said he would call the manufacturer to see what they could do, and he never called me back. At least he owed me the courtesy of the response. Very disappointing, we will not do business with Feen's again. They don't stand behind the...
Read moreVery disappointed that the salesperson who spoke with my elderly parents was not forthcoming about the amount of cleaning a pellet stove requires, especially since they would be using this 24/7 as their main heat source. Salesperson completed the purchase agreement and scheduled the inspection, where the much more honest gentleman told my dad he'd need to crouch down and clean nooks/crannies frequently.
Insult to injury was that they charged my parents $125 to come out when the salesperson could have just been forthcoming from the get-go. The cleaning and maintenance component may be common sense for some, but as I said, my father is elderly and often falls victim to "new technologies" always being easy and convenient. It really irritates me when people take advantage of his gullibility; no 75 year old man with a spinal fusion and who clearly cannot move the way you or I could should be encouraged to buy a stove requiring 40LB bags each day and getting on your hands and...
Read moreThis summer, when Feen's came to service our Jotul woodstove, we asked them for a site check of a fireplace we were considering fitting with a woodstove insert. They assessed the space, did some measurements and offered us some suggestions for what might fit in the space. The main store was then able to offer us brochures and examples. When we decided on the insert we wanted, the main store was able to route us to financing and recommend a few masonry experts who could finish prepping the fireplace before placement of the insert. This was a PROCESS, but through it all we found the entire Feen's Team knowledgeable and professional and genuinely nice to work with. It's winter now and we are enjoying our new woodstove insert. I would not hesitate to recommend this shop to anyone...
