Creative catering — Local services in Flint

If I could give zero stars I would - We used creative catering for our wedding because he was one of the vendors offered at the Frankenmuth Credit Union and event center. Steve the owner of the company was horrible to work with for our wedding September 15th, 2018. When we initially met to talk about the wedding and pay the down payment he said he couldn’t do a wedding with only 100 guests so we had to up our guest amount just to have him be our caterer for our wedding. He hardly ever returned emails or text messages leading up to our wedding. Not only did he do this to us but also my sister in law Holly for her wedding May of 2018. We added on cake cutting service which was a little over $200 and the day of the wedding his staff hurried up and tried leaving once dinner was over without cutting the cake which was a service we had paid for in advance and was in our contract. My mother in law had to yell at the wait staff to not leave without cutting the cake. Steve said to her he would have to check the contract to make sure we paid for it (which we already did) and they then cut maybe a handful of pieces and left. We had 8 guests not come to the wedding and we almost didn’t have enough food for our guests. When we called Steve the day after the wedding to tell him how unhappy we were and wanted our money back for the cake cutting he said he would look into it and also admitted to almost running out of chicken for our guests. He never called us back and never refunded us the money either. We called multiple times and left multiple voice mails and got nothing in return, not even an apology. All of our vendors were wonderful to work with, except for creative catering and I would NEVER recommend...

Catering: 6/18/2022; wedding. Steve Brown with Creative Catering in Flint, MI. I found Creative Catering with a little research and pricing comparison with local catering services. Come to find out, Steve is close friends with my now husband's family! I cannot say enough positive, great things about Steve’s business. Steve was SO caring, quick to answer my questions and genuinely happy to be serving us at the end of the buffett!!! It was TOO cool. My husband and I ate our amazing dinner and then walked around the room to everyone’s tables . Everyone’s plate was EMPTY. We got raving reviews from each table about your food and service. Your servers were so kind and caring. Your food was amazing, HOT and fresh! The plates, decorations on the buffet table, napkins, waters on the table, everything was GREAT! Although, no one saved us any meatballs, fruit or veggies from cocktail hour, we heard they were to die for! Thank you for serving the cake, saving the extra food for us and being simply amazing. We are forever grateful for you, your staff and service at our 165 person buffet wedding reception in Davison, MI. I’ve had several experiences with Creative Catering through work events, both casual and formal, and I am always impressed with their orderliness, quality, and flexibility. I am so excited that they were available to cater my October 2020 wedding. The owner is very easy to work with and helped us plan the perfect menu. The pricing is very competitive (I got dozens of quotes for our wedding) and they even packed up all the leftovers neatly for us to take home. They’ve been keeping a close eye on safety and executive orders during the pandemic and provided beautiful disposable tableware and even served all of the food to our guests as they walked down the buffet line, which made things move very quickly and efficiently. In the future, I would love to see them offer an online invoicing/payment portal option that can be emailed, as I am not someone who uses checks regularly.
