I am very saddened to have to write this review but I feel compelled to. The beauty of having Yelp and being a fellow Yelper is being able to share your experience with others.
This morning, Jan 31st 2019, I was getting some grocery shopping done at Cardenas. As I was walking around the store I was taking pictures, you know, for Yelp of course. Then a store employee by the name of Aaron walked up to me and asked me "do you work for another vendor or some other company?". I said "No I do not". Aaron replied "It's because I saw you taking pictures". I told him the pictures were for Yelp. I asked Aaron "if he knew of yelp?" He said he did but it didn't seem genuine.
Aaron advised me that they have a "no video or photography" policy. I explained to Aaron that Yelp is an App where customers leave reviews for businesses and post photos of products. Aaron then said "he would allow the pictures of I left a good review" 🤔. While Aaron wasn't rude by any means, the whole encounter threw me off. I frequent Cardenas with my family all the time and may consider taking all of my business elsewhere, likely Winco.
After that conversation I decided to leave my shopping cart where it was and walked out. I called the store and spoke to a supervisor by the name of Manuela, she reaffirmed their stance on videos or photography. I understand that every business has a right to their own policies but I couldn't disagree more with it. So many businesses have those "people love us on Yelp" stickers and rely heavily on word of mouth. So many places that I have found and now frequent are because of yelp, because of customer reviews, and of course, those amazing pictures that...
Read moreVery bad customer service. I went and needed assistance in their tortilleria department and no one was to be found. I waited for a total of 10 mins and no one was there. Eventually I went to go ask to their kitchen cashier if she knew how I could get help in the tortilleria department because I needed some nixtamal. And she just stared at me and said that wasn't her department. Again I asked, well do you know how I can get a hold of someone or who I can ask. And she proceeded to say no and that it's not her department that its a whole separate thing. It doesn't make sense because at the end of the day CARDENAS IS CARDENAS. I know the departments are different and she might not be equipped or trained in the tortilleria department but she could have offered some assistance to find the right person who could help. She didnt even wait for me to ask something different. Immediately she began assisting the person behind me before I even left. Over all she seemed bothered and unwilling to help. And mind you, she works the kitchen Cashier. Horrible customer service from her part. I know Cardenas isn't known for the stellar service but at least do better and hire competent people who can answer simple questions not...
Read moreI had to wait an hour for carnitas and burritos today and last week was the worse, because I had waited almost 2. IT'S NOT THE EMPLOYEES FAULT! The kitchen past 2:00 pm have very few employees! Sometimes only 2 of them are working in the kitchen and I can see how stressed they are. I've talked to one guy there and he says it's hard for him because he juggles a lot of things at the same time while maintaining the kitchen and making food for people. I think that's not normal for 2-3 people running the kitchen everyday. In the mornings I see like 5 people maintaining the kitchen well, but in the afternoons is bad. I think employees in that area are being overwhelmed and overstressed maintaining it. Don't get me started on the cashiers. Again not their fault, but having only 2 or one cashier isn't working for the store. I buy liquor and the self check out doesn't allow you so I got to wait a long time to pay in the afternoon. I work at the morning so I won't be able to be here at that time. I don't think it's cool having little employees managing the store, it...
