I recently had two back-to-back rentals of an insulation blower from Menards, and both experiences were marred by issues that left me feeling dissatisfied with their customer service and rental policies.
Rental #1:
Upon receiving the blower, I discovered the hoses were plugged and I had to spend 30 minutes+ unplugging them. This was frustrating, as I expected to receive a clean and ready-to-use machine.
I had no intent of bringing this up but when I returned the blower, the employee took issue with a small amount of insulation remaining at the bottom. I was told I should have cleaned it out completely. When I brought up the fact that the machine was dirty and plugged upon pickup, the employee, supervisor and manager seemed unconcerned and offered no apology or discount for the inconvenience.
Rental #2:
For my second rental, I specifically confirmed with the employee that if I rented the blower when the store was closed, I would only be charged for the rental during open store hours. This was important to me as I needed to return the machine before they opened the next day.
Despite this confirmation, upon returning the blower within four open store hours, I was told I owed an additional $70. The employee was helpful and called over a supervisor, who insisted I should have ensured the original employee entered the correct return time in the system. This was incredibly frustrating, as it placed the blame on me for their employee's potential mistake.
Thankfully, when the supervisor escalated the issue to the manager, the manager acknowledged the error and voided the extra charges. However, the fact that I had to go through this hassle and argue my case was unacceptable.
Overall, these two experiences have left me with a negative impression of Menards' rental services. The lack of accountability for providing working equipment, the unclear and potentially misleading rental policies, and the need to repeatedly escalate issues to management are all areas that need improvement. I hope Menards will take steps to address these problems and provide a better rental experience for their customers...
Read moreI come to this Menards regularly. I'm a Drywall/Painter contractor. I've always had friendly Professional and Good service. I went in today to get 3 gallons of paint. I was in a rush trying to get back to the job I was doing before it started raining. I go to the Paint section get the paint and go to the service desk to have the paint mixed to the color I need. I was met with the rudest, most brainless, and lewd Person I've ever encountered. Kathy was her name. No one was in the paint section I stood where I always go to have paint mixed. She was doing nothing I stood there for 2 minutes waiting for her. She then tells me to walk around to the front of the service desk. When I get there I put the paint on the counter and tell her the color I need. She then ask me what brand of paint. I said this is the brand of paint. She writes on the back of the color samples the brand. She then takes the paint and puts it back on the shelf tells me it will be 15 minutes. I stand there 13 minutes before she goes back to the shelf and gets the paint to mix it. She then walks around talking to a employee that has walked up. After 4 minutes she decides to mix the paint I asked for 17 mins ago. I finally get the paint 19 minutes after I asked to have it mixed. I'll never do business at this Menards again if she is working. It doesn't matter of she's...
Read moreNever had a problem with Menards until recently specifically, cashier woman was very rude and yelled at me. Not to mention multiple of your employees were seen not wearing masks as well as customers walking into the doors. I wear a mask wherever I go, period. I do not need to be yelled at for pulling my mask below the nose but still over my face to take one second to breath in fresh oxygen over 6ft away from anyone at all. There is a way to communicate assertively with someone. I feel like you need to give people grace. Breathing in CO2 is toxic.i understand the policy but its not like i took off my entire mask.
Not to mention few months ago in the paint department there was a man (dark brown haor, very very tall and lengthy, meaning skinny) who offered to help me, so when I accepted, I felt like I was being treated as uneducated and had a mental disorder.... "yes... thats the color brooownnn." I looked up from him and laughed uncomfortably while he had another woman employee standing next to him laughing at me (black/dark brown hair glasses and was fairly far in her pregnancy? Not to mention, i had both my children with me.
I bring all of my business to this company, actually this location specifically and next time I'm treated poorly, I will make a point. Im tired of the way people treat...
