For those that are going to buy and get carpeting installed. Listen up! I am writing this, because as a consumer, you need to be aware.
I purchased new carpet and pad from the Forest Lake branch. I was made aware that If I purchase from Home depot, they will install the carpet and pad for free. The service counter was great in the flooring dept. The gentleman who came out and measured was also great. So, I wrote out a check for over 6 grand and looked forward to my new carpet that I had saved up for. Upfront, I was given the items that the carpet installers would not move. I was golden. I paid extra to have the installers take my two beds down and reassemble them. I was then scheduled for my first attempt. Yes, my first of three attempts.
On the day of my installation, I called the store to find out when the installers were to arrive. I called at 8 and at 11 in the morning with no call back until 1 pm. I never received an email of what to expect or timeline. The warehouse said they would be at my home by 2:00 pm. I let them know that I am working and wouldn't be home until 2:00 since I didn't think anyone would show up. The installers and I arrived at the same time. I brought them in, and they said that my furniture was too big and that they were not getting paid enough for this big job. I noticed he was taking pictures. He said he was going to leave, and he did. I called the warehouse and a Michelle said that they left because I wasn't prepared for them and didn't follow the instructions for preparation. I made it clear that there were no instructions, hence the reason I called to find out. Michelle said that they are private contractors, and she couldn't make them stay.
The second attempt was 2 days later. I did get the email of what to expect and a timeline between 8 - 11. A new crew came at 8 and I wasn't all the way ready. They also told me that my furniture was too big and that they were not getting paid enough for this job. Keep in mind, I can have up to 6 pieces per room , (I had 3 per room) to move and I did not have any of the pieces that were not allowed. I said I need 5 minutes to remove my shoes off the floor and my bedding and to feel free to start. There were 2 installers and 3 rooms a no brainer. The installers said that they were going to call Home Depot to see if they could get more money since my furniture was large. After 10 minutes went by, and I was done with the remaining items for me to pick up that took me 5 minutes, I went out to their van, knocked on the window, and asked what was going on. They said they were trying to get more money for my job. I asked them if this was truly about money or that I was 5 minutes late. They said it was about the money. My neighbor heard the whole conversation and was in disbelief. I called Home Depot again and told them what happened and now a Randi said that the installers sent her a picture and that I was not ready, so they left. She said that this was my fault even though what I told her. When I asked to cancel everything, I was told I couldn't because my order was a special order. Now, forced to deal with these clowns.
The Third attempt, my significant other and I moved most of the furniture ourselves, prior to the arrival. The third and different crew walked in my house and said that this was a bigger job than what they were getting paid for. They were also going to leave even though there were only 7 total large pieces to move, and I was allowed 18. I begged them to stay and said I would help with anything and buy them lunch and provide them with all the water and soda they wanted. The installer said her would stay as I am wiping off the tears on my face, but because he didn't have any other jobs that day.
I then got a call from a woman who works with home depot asking me how I would rate the last installer. I told her everything I just wrote above. She asked me what she would like her to do about it. Three days of vacation lost, 6 grand and a lot of frustration and stress! Never again! There is more but I have run out of space...
Read moreI will never buy or recommend someone to buy an appliance at The Home Depot again, on June 1st I bought a washer and dryer, they delivered to me 3 weeks later June 19, they first brought me the washing machine and since my laundry was not completely finished I told the boy to set it aside for me. The washer came wrapped with its plastics, box and foam I would not have thought that something would be damaged. Today, Wednesday June 24 they delivered the dryer machine when I proceed to remove them from the box I realized that the washer had a big dent on the top which had been covered with the paper for installation instructions and is not noticeable right away until you take the paper off and also have several scratches on the front glass door. I tried to call the customer support number and after waiting 1/2 hour a person answered me and told me that he couldn't hear me and he hung up on me. I went to the Forest Lake, MN store which was where I bought it from to which the supervisor, very arrogant and without any interest in helping me, replied that they could not do anything for me because 48 hours had passed to report any claim or damage. I told her that I never got informed of that rule and I was wondering what else it can can be done, she says “nothing” I asked her if I could return the items because of their customer service and I was not interested in doing business with them anymore, she replied that they did not accept appliance returns. So even if you don't like the washer and dryer as you wash or dry, you can't return it to the store? I call the 1800- number again and this time a very kind person answered that my purchase was still active in the Samsung guarantee and that they are supposed to cover it for me, as I proceed to call the samsung to what the customer service guy told me. that the warranty did not cover that because it could have been in the delivery process. I ask if I could speak with a manager after 40 min waiting on line he hang up on me and when I try to call back customer service was closed. It's all a disaster. I'm so overwhelmed and never again would do business with The Home Depot. Now I have to keep a brand new washer of $700 plus all damaged when everything I wanted was a nice set for my new laundry room. please do not make your purchases of appliances at The Home Depo the customer services are awful nobody...
Read moreI can’t say enough about this store !! Our story my husband and I’s story needs to be told here !! We bought an LG refrigerator the best one Home Depot carries in 2015 . Almost 3 weeks ago we noticed the freezer part was not working well a couple days later I was up after I had surgery with a knee replacement and got my ice pack from the freezer . I noticed it wasn’t frozen an d at 4 am in the morning I was throwing away expensive food items purchased with my surgery in mind . It was not too long after this the upper portion felt lukewarm and my husbands milk spoiled as did many other items . My husband took care of calling at first checking with LG . We had a guy from Minneapolis come out to check Out this frig he quoted an incredible price for labor and we paid half down since he said that was required . The next day that company called saying we don’t service that area? At this point I thought it a good idea to phone Home Depot . My husband had spent hours with LG getting really no where. I spoke with a manager Adam . What a great person . He heard my frustrations . He had compassion . He reassured me he would get involved and get ahold of LG. The weekend went by no answers . Our 4 coolers were now taking up most of our kitchen and ice hard melting hard to keep up with ? A worker Melissa phoned me the following week and said Adam wanted her to call me and check with me ? She was also so kind and would let Adam know she said of no movement from LG. Adam called me and decision was made to provide us with an apartment size freezer . I could hardly believe it ? Adam was going to call my husband . Later that evening my husband returned with a freezer . Oh finally coolers out and what we had left that needed to refrigerate was placed in this gift . I am so grateful that this store, these people would step out and help when we felt like we weren’t being heard ? All I say is I believe this store is truly caring and supportive of their customers ! I would recommend to anyone this store . I can’t express my thankfulness enough ! Thanks Adam ! God truly will bless you and your store and...
