Fun and yummy Saturday morning adventure. Not just vegetables but bread, locally roasted coffee, sweets, jewelry, unique bird houses and crafts, etc. are sold. I arrived just before noon, the market closing time, but had time to look at several booths and to buy sensational salad fixings from Soulshine Farms, focal pendants and earrings, Costa Rican coffee ground to order and when brewed it tasted like the freshly ground beans smelled. I looked at essential oils, soaps, herbs, plants, baked goods, bird houses that are more like bird mansions..very unique designs. I have dropped in twice now and there have been regulars and newcomers so each stop was a new adventure. Because the day was hot, vendors were ready to pack up at noon, so go early and plan to spend some time looking and chatting with friendly...
Read moreThis is, objectively, a 4 star farmers market, but it's not trying to be downtown lynchburg or roanoke, it's trying to be a local small town farmers market, and it does it well. So I give it 5 stars for successfully being exactly what it is. There is a lawn it you have a picnic blanket, and a few tables outside otherwise. When I went there was a blue oyster mushrooms seller... Which was unusual, but very welcome. Coffee truck, various pies and pastries, all the produce you'd expect, etc. Would recommend if you lived in the forest area (it's on the grounds at the forest public library), but otherwise I'd still probably go to the one in...
Read moreVery good place to support local growers. If they dont grow it, they dont sell it. It's a nice mix of crafts, many choices of jellies, fruit, and vegetables. Good choices for food (not many meals but great snacks depending on who is there). Very different than downtown.
We just moved here and want to support the local flavor. They are all so nice and offer samples.
Open through the last weekend on Oct, and then many of the vendors move over to an inside rec center...
