I feel like this store is too good to be true. The in store employees have conflicting information compared to the online help desk. One example stands out the most to me. Purchased four pairs of shorts online. They didn't fit, and online doesn't offer exchanges. I chatted with the online help desk. They told me their online store doesn't offer exchanges, but I could go into the store and exchange them for a bigger size so I dont lose the price I bought them at. So I go into the store and pick out the bigger size. Of course one of the sizes are not there but it says it is. I go to check out, and everything is great. But then the lady says I owe $11.98 I asked why. She basically said they don't honor the price it was when I originally bought it. I told her that is not what someone at the store said. She said, who? I said, you're store online through the website help desk. She said, no we don't." Then kept mentioning a 20 percent discount that didn't exist which was her explanation for the price difference. I originally bought the shorts, buy one, get one 50 percent off. These employees need to get their story straight. I returned everything all together. BUT this isn't the first problem I've had with this company. The other two times they shipped me two separate pairs of shoes that were visibly defective or worn. Then their customer service department didn't reach out to me after they said it was escalated. I went to Academy Sports to try on two pairs of shoes I saw on sale online, one was $30 cheaper, the other $20. While shopping, I asked if they’d price match, and an employee said yes if it was from academy.com.
At checkout, the cashier confirmed they price match but called another employee over, other employee claimed the discount was only for store credit card holders (which wasn’t true) and insisted that store pickup wasn’t an option for the online price. She said if I tried to check out online, I’d be forced to pay full price if I wanted in-store pick up or they would ship the on sale shoes to my house. At the end, she refused to match the prices and only offered a $5 discount. If price matching wasn’t possible, I would’ve preferred a simple, “Sorry, we can’t,” instead of conflicting explanations.
Frustrated, I ordered online in the parking lot, and store pickup was an option. Less than 30 minutes later, my order was ready, but one pair had stains. When I asked for a clean pair, the staff seemed annoyed and struggled to process the exchange.
