This morning I stopped at a store named Ollie's to pick up some gift bags. In the parking lot was a car that had a dog inside. The windows were open but it's 96 here in Florida! So I walked into the store to ask the manager to make an announcement over the loud speaker for the owner of this vehicle to come to the front of the store. The manager was very rude and reluctant to do this. So I persisted and then other people gathered around. After 10 minutes I told the manager I was going to call the police and the TV station if he did not make this announcement. He finally did and the woman came to the front and said "What did he do now?" meaning her dog. I politely, well somewhat politely, explained that it was 96 degrees and the dog should be taken into the store. (Just to let everyone know ALL stores allow dogs to come in on a leash or in the cart.) She was not happy! So I followed her out to the car and she said, "The Windows are down". So I said, lets put you in the backseat and see how long you last. Well, she did take the dog into the store. PEOPLE, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR DOG IN THE CAR FOR ANY REASON! If I see it, I will break your window and rescue your dog. I will call the police, I will raise holly hell outside your car! Dogs are family members and it is a horrible and painful death when they over heat! Pass the word...leave your dog at home or take them in the store with you!...
Read moreI'm rating it based on the, 'Ollie's Standard,' not compared to any other stores (ex: Big Lots.) I've been to quite a few Ollie's in Southern New Jersey, Knoxville, Tennessee, and Southwest Florida. The one in Egg Harbor Township represents the 1 star. They had far too much inventory for the size of the store. It was wicked disheveled with stuff everywhere, completely disorganized. It was very hard to navigate, both efficiency-wise, as well as physically. Knoxville - 3 stars, self-explanatory. Colonial Square, Ft. Myers Florida - I know I only gave it 4 stars, but it was the nicest Ollie's I've been in to date. The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because there was still plenty of room for improvement. The whole reason I went to Ollie's in the first place was because there were 6 or 7 deals in the flyer that came in the mail. While I left with a half-full cart, they only had 3 of the items I went for. They also have food/drink products (including those on sale in the flyer) scattered throughout the whole store, making things a bit more difficult. Overall, it was the best Ollie's experience I've had so far. But I recommend treating it as an activity more so than a quick...
Read moreI really enjoyed this place if Old Time Pottery and Big Lots had a baby Ali's would be it! I was really amazed with the size of the store and everything they had available the prices are ridiculously rate for some of the most expensive looking items and name brand products. There were a few products that I could not find the price for but most everything had the price directly on it. Their clearance section had some amazing deals and I was able to pick up quite a few things that wall were on clearance because they were damaged will be easy for me to fix and recycle for reuse. I can't wait to go back and have a look around again, there were quite a few things I wanted and had in my cart but changed my mind and put back but now regret putting back so now I wish to go back and get them next time around. I highly recommend taking a drive over to the store and having a gander inside if you've never been before. Stock changes periodically and as you can over here on the PA system Austin get it while it's there because when it's gone it's gone items they stock are limited to the items there store receives and all stores may receive different items...
