I'm Peruvian and I LOVE ceviche, especially the trio samplers- unfortunately every time I have ordered online at Divino, the taste and quality and consistency of the food has dwindled. I was really craving ceviche today and now I am upset and still hungry!
The first time, my aji Amarillo was spicy, creamy and had a very nice color to it. My corn and sweet potato came in a different container and I received a decent amount- it was also SPICY and had a lovely lime kick as well with noticeably fresh veggies. I had to reorder!
The second time the trios almost had no color to them, there was almost little to no limon aftertaste and I received a small amount of choclo and sweet potato. Also, the avocado and mango topping that I received today was NOT in my last trio order at all.
The third time, just now, I received no sweet potato at all. Only a small sauce cup half-filled with sweet potato puree. All of the corn was also mixed into every dish- and it was a TON of corn. Not how it was served before and not how I enjoy eating it. Does it usually come with puree and not separate veggies like I had twice previously? The ceviches tasted watery and were bland- absolutely no spiciness or lime taste even in the aji Amarillo. Definitely did not have that "kick" ceviches usually have. I had my partner try it and see if it was just me- he said the same before I could ask him.
I really wanted to like the ceviche here and see if it was just me having bad luck- but I will now say there are definitely better ceviches elsewhere served with consistency every time.
This being said, my partner has ordered other dishes from here before and they are great- I'm just here for the ceviche and it has been a let...
Read moreI'd like to start by saying their food is delicious, but it's not worth waiting over an hour for it. From what I can tell, there was only a server and a cook working tonight in a half full restaurant. I ordered my food online, but it took them over an hour to have it ready. And, ironically, that's after they told me in person that I would have to wait an hour for the lomo, so I better get the chicken instead. At least they offered, after I asked, a side of maduros (six pieces) because the lomo is more expensive than the chicken. I wasn't offered anything to drink while I waited. I'm mostly upset at the fact that they seemed to be understaffed on a Friday night, but a free beer would have made the time pass more smoothly. I also didn't get an apology or a discount fkr a future purchase. It only takes small gestures to keep a client. Also, the paint job of their tables is defective, making many of them super sticky. You would think they would have addressed that issue by now. I'm gonna wait until they are fully staffed before coming back, hopefully their tables are not sticky by then....
Read moreThis was our third visit at this restaurant. Food taste and service is always outstanding. Our only complaint is that the portions are not consistent. We had the Pulpo Anticuchero ordered at our last visit and the plate looked exactly like the picture on the menu. This time the same dish looked completely different. The three very tiny pieces of octopus were buried under four large potatoes and not even detectable when the food arrived at our table. This didn’t come even close to the picture on the menu or to the appearance of the plate we had at our prior visit. Consistency is the way to success with a restaurant and I hope the owner of this restaurant will read my review. We were hoping to finally have found a great Peruvian restaurant. But this fact makes us...
