It has taken me about 3 days to calm down enough to write this review without the use of four letter words. I went to this shop to get my natural hair that I have been trying to grow out for years trimmed up. I walked in and asked if she could cut my hair. I told her that I just wanted the back trimmed/shaped up. I told her I wanted it tapered. She told me tapered meant many things. (I should have ran out of the shop then. Because from my years of experience taper only means one thing. There are other terms used for tapering e.i. wedge, but taper only has one meaning in haircutting.) She asked for a photo. I found about four photos to give her an idea of what I was look for. She said that the looks were all different and SHE chose the one she thought best suited me. My hair was wet. She asked if I had shampooed my hair. I stated yes, but she could shampoo it again. She did not. Instead she took her clippers and began to cut my hair- did I mention I was trying to grow my hair out. Then she went in with the scissors. Never once did she comb or pick my hair out. I told her that I just wanted the back cut. She proceed to point to the nape area where my hair that was inches long- was now barely an inch and tells me that that was the back. (Sorry lady that's not the back of head. That is the nape of the neck. The back of the head is the hair that fall back when you section the hair from top of the crown parting from ear to ear.) She get to the top of my head...I had just wanted her to trim the back. She take the comb and combs my hair up until she hit the kinks. She didn't comb it all the way out. I asked her if she could overdirect that part of my hair. She cut off a clump of my hair...and then asked me if I said something. I repeated to her that I had wanted her to overdirect that part. She tells she was and then tried to explain overdirection to me. I know what overdirection is. At this point I lost it. I am very upset about my hair. I actually had to go somewhere else and have it fixed. I'm hurt that I have to completely start the growth process over. My bonnet that was once almost to small for my head now keeps falling off. But it's hair it will grow back eventually. A years worth of progress gone. But what pissed me of the most was the disrespect of my intelligence that I received from this lady. She said it was a breakdown in communication. But she never gave me a chance to communicate. Consultation is not done by a photo. A photo is a tool used to assist in the consultation. Consultation is also not done while you are walking around the shop taking care of other clients. It's done with the client sitting in the chair and you are looking at them eye to eye. And she charged me for messing up my hair. But it's fine if that's the way you want to operate your business. Needless to say I will never go back there. God bless you. My review is not a spam or smear. This lady truly messed my hair up and charged me for it. But try her at your own risk. This lady DOES NOT LISTEN and DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO DO or CUT NATURAL HAIR. AND I'M NOT THE ONLY COMPLAINT. CHECK OUT YELP. Elaine instead of trying to discredit my review you need to take some natural hair classes or tell the clients up front you don't know what you are doing...because you don't. Oh yeah and learn how to listen. Thank...
Read moreShe was wonderful, friendly, sociable, the locations sanitary and overall great. She was very friendly to my sister as well and I would have wanted to continue going there but over the phone, a misunderstanding occurred where I thought she said $6-$5 for a kids haircut (which was my misunderstanding as we had just gotten custody of my sister and i was not sure what kids haircuts average), I came there, she was able to squeeze me in at 2:30, but after the haircut was done……… that was where I had a problem, $65 was what I paid for my little sister to have a length trim and her bangs cut… and she didn’t even charge me luckily for the shampooing. I’m not sure if this is an appropriate price to be charging for a child’s haircut, especially when I never asked for shampooing. I get we have a business to run but as there are no other staff, just her, she is talented and if you, a grown woman, want a guaranteed good haircut for a date or an important event, I HIGHLY recommend her. But do not take your kid here unless you are one of those people who can afford $65+ for a trim. Our family does not have a lot of money, and that for us was detrimental, but since the haircut was already done, I had to pay (plus it was a really good haircut) otherwise I’d give it 5 stars if I came there myself, was paying closer attention to the price, and was worried about getting a bad...
