A unique experience. So, so many things in every nook and cranny. Everywhere your eyes land is a new little something you didn't see on the first pass. The biggest issue is that the owner is clearly overwhelmed. If he could get a better system of organization or maybe more time to sort the piles of what appear to be purchased collections strewn about the floor, it could be an amazing place. Having to navigate unbalanced piles of comics, magazines, boxes, and bags of cans is going to be a huge issue for anyone who can't deal with tighy spaces or clutter. Personally, i love to dig through boxes to find older collectibles; a true treasure hunt experience! I found numerous items from multiple eras of gaming and comics. Old D&D modules, old sealed boxed sets of warhammer from as far back as Second Edition. Newer RPG and CCG stuff was crammed in there as well. The owner and his partner seemed like really nice people willing to help you find items and work some deals on items, but i honestly didn't feel like asking the price about every item as there were little to no price tags on anything. There is a comic shop next door but was told by one of the employees "next door is way worse." I wasn't prepared to spend the day digging around because I had my family with me, but one day, i would love to come back...
Read moreI make it a point to visit Thunderdome Gaming when I'm in the area. The store is chock-full of merchandise ranging from board games that are not commonly carried in other stores, to manga and pro-wrestling merchandise - all of which I'm a big fan.
The owner, Captain Joel, is as knowledgeable about the products he sells (and about pro-wrestling) as they come. If you come in excited about the store, it's nearly impossible to leave without a great experience. Organization? Life's too short. Stay awhile and search for that little piece of nostalgia to take home with you. If you're like me, you'll have a hard time only picking one item! The good news there is that Captain Joel is very generous with pricing and deals. I left with a wide range of board games and reading material and paid a final price that was more than reasonable. To top it all off, when he found out I was a teacher in Canada, he donated a series of amazing, hardcover Marvel books to our classroom library. If you don't leave with merchandise, you'll at least have had a good conversation.
Thunderdome Gaming is a treasure.
Thanks, Captain Joel. You're a gentleman...
Read moreTo start with, the owner is next door and you have to get them to (reluctantly) unlock it for you. There are containers of dirt lying around on the merchandise, looked like he was growing something shady like mushrooms or marijuana IN THE STORE. Picked out two game models. one priced 29.95, one priced 14.95. Both normal priced for x-wing. At the counter he says I have to check the price because they may have went up. RED FLAG. These are not comic books or collector items. Lol he says he wants 60$ for the 14$ model. Long story short, he could have made 45$, he tried to screw me out of 60$ so he made 0$. I donât think he has sold anything in at least a year judging by the layer of nasty...
