Beware of False Advertising – Disappointing Experience

I recently came across an advertisement from Kimberly’s Jewelers promoting watch cleaning. The ad clearly stated “Don't be late to a meeting or other important engagement because your watch battery gave out. At Kimberly's Jewelers, we can replace batteries and complete watch repair for all makes and models of watches, so you can be where you need to be in plenty of time. In addition, we can replace or repair your watchband, clean your watch and perform any of a number of repairs necessary to keep your watch in tip top shape. We know time is important, and we can keep you on time when your watch breaks or the battery dies. We can also clean your watch so that it looks and runs like brand new.” However, when I visited the store to get my watch battery replaced and get my watch cleaned, I was told that they did not provided watch cleaning services unless the watch was a Rolex.

“The ad clearly stated that the services were provided to all makes and models of watches with no specific type of watch mentioned like the gentleman in back specifically stated. The service was only available on Rolex, not all as advertised”.

I reached out to the front desk lady for clarification, but unfortunately, they refused to honor the advertised service and gave vague explanations.

This experience felt deceptive, and I would caution others to double-check the details before going to this store. Honest advertising is crucial for building trust, and sadly, Kimberly’s Jewelers did not meet that standard. I hope they take steps to correct this issue...

My wife brought my watch in to have the battery replaced. As it turned out, the battery had leaked and the watch needed to be sent away for repairs. The watch comes back and is working well, but I quickly notice condensation on the inside of the glass. This is a diving watch that is supposed to be resistant to a depth of 100m. I brought it back to the shop as soon as possible and the owner took a look and said the watch repair man had forgotten to reinstall a seal. Because of the missing seal, salt water had gotten into my diving watch and the whole movement needed replaced. So my watch was sent back for repairs again, free of charge because the repair man made a mistake. When I picked up my watch again, I noticed the whole face had developed a horrible, ugly yellow corrosion. My watch was sent back for a third time. My wife picked it up and the discoloration could not be reversed. She was also told that the seal was not repairable and that my watch would never be water-tight again. They offered a refund for what we paid for the work, but no compensation for my ruined watch. I called and suggested that the watch repair man reimburse us for the value of the watch, but the owner immediately became aggressive and defensive. He said he would not reimburse me for the value of my ruined watch and would not even ask the repair man for reimbursement. In summary, somebody else ruined my watch and I have no hope of being reimbursed. On top of that, this whole process took about 7 months. I will never do business here again and strongly discourage anyone else from doing business...

I took a very special piece of jewelry (ring) to Alex for a repair that seemed impossible after two failed attempts by other jewelers at achieving the desired "look" I was expecting. Alex can do the impossible. He was honest, confident, and his work exceeded my expectations. The ring has a large center stone but from my understanding it was too narrow for the overall setting. I really didn't think it would be possible to manipulate the metal to accommodate the center stone and make it "fit". I chose this ring based on images and videos and when I initially got it, it looked nothing like the images, which led me to take it to another trusted source to "fix" it like it was supposed to look. I was so disappointed when I got it back, as the stone was lopsided, the prongs were crooked, and the white gold was already turning yellow because they did not re-plate the ring with rhodium after working on it. After careful research and trusted reviews from the internet and people I know, I decided to go to Alex and I could not be happier. The ring looks exactly like it's supposed to.
