Foodland Markets — Local services in Fort Worth

I've been coming to this store since it was Hills Supermarket. When it became Elrods Cost Plus they added the cost plus to their pricing. Cool. Now as Foodland they "got rid of" the cost plus, but not really, since they decided to jack up all the prices to make up for what they would lose without the cost plus.

That being said, their security team is often a bit overzealous. Some of the security staff over the years have been treated like employees, helping sack groceries, etc. About a year ago one of these security people tried to run me off the property because I was standing outside waiting for the taco truck. Never mind the 5-6 people usually sitting outside panhandling or charging their phones on the wall outlets.

Today, however, was the worst. I attend the church behind the store. I run their media, so I carry a backpack to hold all my stuff as I am walking. No one has ever said anything to me, but after church today one of the security people met me at the door and said I couldn't enter with my backpack. I was just going to buy some chili and hot dog buns to make lunch. This has never been an issue as I regularly pick up items after church. He wanted me to leave my backpack at the door. Yeah, no. I have expensive computer equipment in it, there is no way I'm leaving it at the door. I doubt he'd watch it and it would get stolen, most likely by the panhandlers who have set up camp outside.

I know this rule is in place for it to be fair for everyone, but I don't think I've ever been as offended, being treated like some street person or teenager. Stores let people with purses shop, why not a backpack? This whole thing is silly.

If I could make a suggestion to have a designated area where people can leave their backpacks where it would at least have eyes on it instead of just by the door. That's my main...

Had to wait 20 minutes in total in line for money gram. First 5 minutes was waiting for someone to return from break. Then had to refill out the form that I already filled out on the app. Don’t even recall the last time anywhere did paper. Such an inconvenience and backwards. We’re in 2025. 3 stars because the transaction was fast and the lady was nice.

It was my fourth place to use money gram in the last 1.5hr and then I’m met with “for our records” paperwork. As if i didn’t already waste time and effort before coming here.

We love Foodland, place is super clean, lots of helpful employees, no waiting to check out because they have plenty of smiling cashiers, food may be a little higher but the food is a lot fresher. I GIVE...
