I love the selection of stores; Fortuna Thrift (above average section of clothing & a wicked variety of vintage trinkets that is comparable to the oddities in Needful Things). The Safeway store there supercedes the rest in this county due to its' knowledgeable & extremely friendly employees. The tobacco store there has many locally crafted glassware & does offer discounted tobacco products, unlike many comparable stores in the area in which the tobacco is actually more expensive than the local gas stations. The Rite Aid has pretty much a friendly staff except for an over zealous manager who has been known to be extremely rude and disrespectful to whom assumes are economically challenged people (poor people), for even just coming into the store. Peppers still offers a wonderful breakfast and is one of the last places you can order a pot of coffee and share a slice of pie and sit there for hours being waited by some of the most courteous and friendly servers I've ever had the pleasure of doing business with. Round Table is still one of the best pizza artesians in the market and their prices reflect that. The Dollar Tree has the coolest staff and boasts some of the best selection of "dollarish" items in Humboldt. The Subway restaurant is fast, fresh and friendly. Laundroland is not the best laundry mat due to not having staff available, machines stealing your money and the refusal of management to actually refund you when you fill out a refund slip. I have had almost $35 in refund slips filled out over 5 years and I am yet to receive one refund check. The Karate School, Kimpo, always sounds as if the participants are enjoying themselves and the progression of the children who attend, just from randomly observing while waiting for my laundry to be dry, have gained discipline and technique. The only 2 stores which I as well as many others would agree, need either to shut their doors or attend some sort of empathy training to not encounter some sort of class action lawsuit. The stores are Shell Gas Station and McDonald's. They both on not one, not two, not three but countless times, I have experienced some of the rudest and down right disrespectful, selfish, snotty, arrogant, unprofessional and cruel, not just employees but people, in my existence thus far. I have been accused of dropping drugs on the bathroom floor, which turned out to be my husband's tooth, with no apology at Shell to being denied having my sandwich made over because it tasted like sweaty socks and bleach at McDonald's, even though that is the restaurant's guarantee. These two businesses employee people who have zero people skills or an ounce of humanity or decency, which I feel is required when dealing with the public. You are in a position that can severely harm those individuals who are less capable of dealing with bullies, that can harm them. Bring cruel and condescending are 2 traits that should lead to the termination of employees not the advancement of them. Your employees model behavior for your store that the public correlates with your business and products. For the majority places in The Redwood Shopping Center they model excellent people skills and cater to the public. I would just get your burgers from Peppers and your gas from Texaco...
Read moreWent to a diner in this shopping center, it took 10 mins for anyone to even greet our table of 3 and it was the man that was cleaning the tables, probably the bus boy (man), that finaly told us we could seat ourselves and then came and asked if we would like drinks. The main waitress completely ignored us even when asked 3 time if we seat ourselves or wait to be seated. Eventually she came and asked if we would like coffee and then took our orders and brought our food which was delicious other than the hair on our companions biscuits and gravy, which was speedily replaced. The waitress never came back to our table to ask how we were or if we needed anything and forgot twice to bring a straw. I would not go back there unless that...
Read moreGreat shopping center. They have a Safeway, dollar store, Rite Aid, laundromat, pizza, and an amazing Chinese / Sushi Restaurant where little boats float around like a conveyor and you can choose your sushi by taking the plate off the boat! Also a full all you can eat buffet which has excellent food. The sushi is included with the buffet price which is very reasonable. Highly recommend this place, called Sushi Boat.
They also have a big fish tank and games in the lobby for the kids to play, or for adults to win everything from stuffed animals to Samsung Galaxy phones, go pros, etc! The claw machine is one of the strongest I've seen. Definitely stop here if...
