VOX DJs — Local services in Fountain Valley

We hired DJ Leon Lee (aka DJ Leon de La $co) for our wedding in the SD area and bottom line: he did a fantastic job.

While planning the wedding, we'd read advice from a wedding planner to invest in the right DJ as a top priority, since music is a powerful yet often overlooked way to create the right atmosphere throughout the day. I'm really glad we took that advice!

We chose Leon because he mentioned in his bio something along the lines of really enjoying mixing genres to create a fun and dynamic setlist. This really hit home for us since we love a bunch of different genres, from oldies to K-pop to Y2K throwbacks to Reggaeton & more. During the planning session, we knew we were in good hands because he picked up on our preferences quickly while being very collaborative, offering his expertise when called for.

The ceremony music brought on lots of tears & emotion, the music throughout dinner/cocktails made everyone feel upbeat and lively, and it all flowed seamlessly without any hiccups. Apparently there was one little electrical mishap from the venue (not Vox's fault) but Leon ran over to resolve it quickly to keep the party going. I didn't even notice at all until a few people mentioned it after.

The dancing was EPIC. During and after the event, I had a ton of people come up to me to praise his DJing and ask us who he was / where we found him. We gave him a direction for songs and genres, but gave him a lot of wiggle room on songs/flow/timing, telling him to use his discretion to switch it up if the party seemed like it was slowing down. He absolutely killed it - the party never slowed down! I somehow ended up with a mic toward the end of the night and shouted "give it up for DJ Leon!!" to which everyone in the venue started screaming and cheering. My friends warmed up to him so much that a few of them even dragged him onto the dance floor to join us for a song or two (sorry Leon, they're too much sometimes lol). In all, I think we all danced for ~3 hours, and there was never a moment when the dance floor was empty - exactly what I was hoping for!

While there is so much that goes into creating a fun and joyous atmosphere for your wedding, having a professional DJ who can expertly set the tone is a core tool to really elevate the moments throughout your day. DJ Leon delivered 100/10 on this for us, and we couldn't be happier with our decision to...

We were recommended VOX by (multiple) friends to find a DJ for our wedding. At our first appointment we described what we were looking for in a DJ and ultimately ended up getting referred to Adrian Melgar. When we met up to go over what sort of music we wanted played at our wedding, I honestly felt we were a bit demanding. We requested to have Spanish/Latin, classic rock, 70s pop, 2000s hits, swing, house, EDM and some how to make it all work.

Above all that, we definitely did not want someone just running an itunes playlist (which we've seen WAYY too many times at weddings). We wanted technical mixing skills, smooth transitions (not just fades) and to never stop the beat. (how many of you have been on a dance floor when the DJ totallly switches up energy and everyone stops moving and starts looking around?) Adrian Melgar delivered in every category and kept the dance floor moving all night.

He kept the song progression coherent, was able to shift genres without losing the crowd. Literally hit ever single category requested. Was full of energy. Extremely observant and adaptive. Professional, and prepared. I never realized how busy things would be till our wedding day came; but we showed up, Adrian was already there, set up & ready to go.

BOTTOM LINE: Yes, I would use VOX and Adrian Melgar...

What guests told us most after our wedding (besides congrats) was that they loved the DJs. We had a great experience from start to finish with Malcolm and Harrison from VOX DJs. We had our wedding in April at the Los Verdes Golf Course and we figured if we needed mics for the outdoor ceremony we might as well get a DJ. We are extremely thankful to our past selves for making that decision! In hindsight one of the reasons I'm glad we chose VOX was that they're super responsive and easy to contact through phone or email, and have a large variety of DJs that are comfortable with multiple venues in the area including ours. The coordinator listened to our requests for music preferences and someone who could get people excited to dance, and recommended Malcolm (I also liked the fact that Bruno Mars was featured on Malcolm's page). The whole day went smoothly thanks to Malcolm and Harrison (who showed up as a surprise back-up DJ and Mandarin translator!). Even the quieter guests jumped out onto the dance floor and were telling us how much fun they had during and after that amazing day....
