A go-to shop for freshwater plants! I've also sourced my ghost shrimp (kept as pets) and mystery snails from them to great success. There's always something new here. I've been delightfully surprised by a stock ranging from the expected goldfish, guppies, and bettas to beautiful ornamental shrimps, mudskippers, frogs, and snails as big as my fist. Don't let the small storefront fool you, there's a lot in there. My expertise lies in freshwater, but as far as my limited knowledge of saltwater goes it looks great on that side of the store as well. Always an interesting and colorful selection of corals and lots of fish and vertebrates!
The only possible negative thing I could say is I occasionally see them displaying bettas in take-home tanks that are dramatically too small for the fish. (Contrary to popular belief, if you want your betta to thrive and not just survive it should really be in a minimum of 5 gallons with a heater and filtration.) This practice is so common, though, that I can't bring myself to knock them for it. They're still being kept in conditions far superior to the tiny cups the big-box pet stores use for betta displays.
The main betta display, however, is an excellent setup of multiple divided filtered tanks, sometimes even decorated with plants for the fish to rest in. Again, leaps and bounds better than their big-box competition.
Definitely come check this place out! If you're a fish keeper, they're...
Read moreI'm guessing this place is under new management as Ive been coming here for years and didnt recognize anyone in there. I proactively called the store and specifically asked if they had saltwater as I normally do because this location is over 30 minutes away from my home. The young lady who answered the phone put me hold after I asked, to which I assumed she went to go check, as she came back to say "yes, we do."
When I arrived, I was told that they didnt have any saltwater available. I mentioned that I called first and that someone said they did. This guy at the counter attempted to tell me that specifically asking for saltwater could also mean asking for saltwater fish. This didnt make sense to me considering I've been a customer for years, and I specifically asked for saltwater- NOT saltwater fish.
So, not only did I waste my time driving over 30 minutes after receiving the wrong information, I was treated by some guy at the counter as though it was my fault they didnt take the time to ensure they were providing correct information. No accountability....
Read moreWorst experience ever, myself (a Hispanic) and my fiance (an African American) went into this store because we wanted new fish for our aquarium. it was clear that the store is ran by a caucasian and the customers were all caucasian but that didnt matter to us. the problem came when we went into the store, theres a fat guy that works there (caucasian) he was sitting the entire time until we went in. he did not greet us like he did the people before us and we noticed he was staring us down so we felt uncomfortable and went into the next aisle... he then walks to the end of the other aisle and is still staring at us but this time he didnt try to hide it so we felt sooo uncomfortable and had to leave! Bad customer service and racial profiling at it's best! I will never step foot in that place again and I wouldnt recommend any other Hispanic or African American to go there unless you want to be singled out and feel uncomfortable... we should've all been treated as equal customers and not singled out because of our race or skin complexion! Shame...
