Battleground is easily the top gaming store in the area for three reasons:
The prices on cards are competitive with other outlets, and they do a really good job of keeping their inventory stocked and prices fair in spite of Hasbro and others making it challenging to do so. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, professional, and helpful with their service. There's always someone around to answer game-specific questions, find a specific collector booster, and more. The play area is a safe space that explicitly welcomes all historically marginalized communities with pride. Battleground fosters an authentic sense of community, which in today's hypercapitalist hellscape, is a true third space rarity. Commander nights see the store packed to the gills with games full of good vibes, and the store even runs nightly raffles with an optional buy-in so that folks can support the store without having to pay an entry fee or buy product.
I'm extremely thankful for Battleground. We need more small businesses like them. I strongly encourage all gamers in the area to check them out. You won't be...

Products are high-quality, and verified for quality and authenticity. Reviews that say “things are overpriced above market” have no idea what they are talking about. The game and merchandise is more affected by the economy than other goods to it being almost exclusively made in China and Japan.
The stores also conform live pricing prior to selling to customers, to ensure they are getting the best value. As someone who has been going to Battleground Games for 10 years, I can confirm that they are the premier place to buy...

This is the worst card shop, and it is full of the rudest people you will meet. They overcharge for their cards far above market. The staff and the prices make skipping this store/ chain a no-brainer. On 2/7/25, they are asking 90.00 for a box that msrp’s for 23.00. A box that just came out today. Just wait - do not give in to these scalpers. If they are upcharging like this, who knows What they are doing with loose packs.
My advice: If you're going to be charged market or above like this store does for magic and Pokemon, there are much better stores to...
