Extremely disappointed in DeScenza in Framingham. Through the years, my husband and I have purchased a wedding ring, wedding band, 2 strands of pearls, a pearl bracelet, gold cross, pearl earrings, gold earrings, Lladro Bride and Groom statue, 5 or 6 other Llardro statues, crystal, Christmas presents, and so, so much more. It was our "go to" place......until today.
I brought my engagement ring and 2 wedding bands into DeScenza to be resized, per the manager's suggestion a while ago. To make a long story short, they made my 3 rings (appraised for over $40k) too big. And they charged me $220 for their mistake. (My original ring size was a size 4 1/2, and I wanted it resized to a 5 1/2.) The DeScenza saleswoman INSISTED that my rings be re-sized to size 6! And she made me sign a note indicating that we we disagreed on the sizing, and she went ahead and resized them to a 6 despite my concerns. (She really wanted them to be re-sized to a 6 1/2!)
When I got my size 6 rings back, they were WAY too big-- and they erased some of the original engraving I had on the inside of my wedding bands. They said they would fix it--but when I finally bought them back in with my receipt for $220.00, they told me it would be an additional $75 for them to fix 2 of my rings. They said I waited too long. I asked for a compromise, and asked them to just fix my engagement ring on a complimentary basis, because it was so rediculously big on me. (It would cost them $45 to fix it.) That's all I asked DeScenzas for --fix one ring for $45 (after creating a problem on three of my rings.)
The Asst. sales manager, Ian refused. (It was clear to me he wanted to make some money from me--not help me.) I brought the matter to the Store Manager's attention; She refused. Our business after 20+ years with DeScenzas was not worth $45 to them--never mind the fact that they made the sizing error. We had purchased well over $50k in jewelry and merchandise with DeScenza's in the past, but our business wasn't worth $45 to repair their mistake and keep us as customers.
After getting off the phone with the Store Manager at DeScenzas in Framingham, I called Longs Jewelers in Burlington. Long's Jewelry is OUTSTANDING! I told them the whole story. My husband had done business with them in the past, and most recently had bought me a Rolex watch at Longs. The entire experience at Longs was fabulous. So I called them to see if they could fix my rings. Kirk at Long's told me to come right in -- which I did. Long's took care of my beautiful wedding rings on a complimentary basis. Long's customer service and loyalty puts DeScenzas to shame. Long's is incredibly professional, helpful and courteous. It's a longer trip for me to go to Long's Jewelers in Burlington than DeScenzas in Framingham, but it is so WORTH IT!
We will never go back to DeScenzas again. We highly recommend you check out Long's in Burlington before making any large purchase at DeScenzas. You will be very...
Read moreOriginally bought my Ebel watch at DeScenza in Boston about 26 years ago. Have generally taken it back periodically to have it serviced. This time is costs $650 to overhaul the watch. When I received it back, the metal watch band had not been polished or shined up. It actually had scratches on it. When I queried the Sales person about why the watch band had not been polished, she stated to me that the repair shop only works on the mechanical "guts" ... SHAME ON DESCENZA Framingham for not stepping up to polish my watch band to deliver a fully finished product! Jewelry is all about aesthetics!
In Response to DeScenza's response BELOW.... Your asst manager's reply that EBEL could not polish up their own product is rather absurd. This watch and its wave finish is still being sold actively by EBEL I brought my watch to my local jeweler for their opinion and they said it needed a buff on the polishing wheel. DeScenza, your reputation has fallen in my opinion. You delivered substandard service at high pricing. I am disappointed, as i also have bought multiple jewelry items from DeScenza's in the past including diamond anniversary rings. No Thank...
Read moreI had recently gone into the Framingham location looking for a ring for myself which my parents were going to get for me for Christmas. I saw a ring there which I really liked but wanted to go check out a few different places before I purchased it. After looking around and knowing I wanted this ring, I went back and asked if they had a size 8 available. The salesman Arnold said he would have to check and it may be more money. After being gone for about thirty minutes , he came back and said that type of ring could not be sized and would be $230 more because it was a "custom order". I called the Hingham location a couple days later, I asked them if they could do a size 8. After a few minutes on hold she said no problem they could order the ring in a size 8. They charged me the same price as the size seven that was on display $460. This is the same business and there's no reason why one location would be charging so much more for the same exact ring. Clearly he just knew I wanted the ring and was trying to make extra money on the sale. I would never trust buying anything from...
