The family owned bookstore was a find! We've been here several times when in the Boston area, and have never been disappointed.
The store carries a treasure of many pre-Vatican II books that range from catechetical instruction, lives of saints to deepening ones spiritual life. We found the Catechism of the Council of Trent by Fr's McHugh and Callan as well as The Catechism Explained by Rev. Spirago & Clarke, both excellent resources to learn about and live out the Catholic Faith. They carry books from many noted publishers like TAN books, Loreto publications, Lepanto Press, Ignatius Press, etc.
They are one of the few stores that carry the Douay-Rheims Bible from different publishers (Baronius Press, St Benedicts Press, Loreto Publications) in English and in Spanish! We even found the Haydock Bible, the Douay-Rheims & Clementina Vulgata Bible (side-by-side) as well as the Mystical City of God: Volume I-IV by Venerable Mary of Agreda at the store.
We have a good selection of traditional Catholic gifts for Baptism and the other Sacraments. They also have several statues, sacred images, Holy Oils for ailments, Scapulars (Brown, Green), Rosaries, traditional catholic cards, etc. There is always sacred music playing in the store, which we've enjoyed while shopping here.
We also spoke with the store owner, a gentleman, who has devoted his life to running the store and provide Catholic resources to the community. Although he mannerisms might appear distant, he is very knowledgeable about the Catholic Faith and can guide the customer in choosing the right gifts and books.
In case the owner isn't around, the volunteer staff are extremely helpful. In particular, a personable lady volunteer is always ready to assist customers in choosing the right gifts for baptisms, medals for protection, choices for books as well as picking a good Bible. She even hands out free blessed scapulars to visitors and encouraging them about the Catholic Faith.
The store has downsized since our last visit and had to consolidate a lot of Catholic gifts and books in a smaller area. But the treasures are still there. The personable lady volunteer who used to work, has since left. However, the other volunteers who assist the store owner are very helpful. Checkout is straightforward and easy. Parking is right outside the store, or on the street. Will visit again if...
Read moreThis is a very nice store. It's a good size and it's very clean and organized. I received help from Melissa who was an absolute pleasure to work with. She helped me while I was at the store and followed up with me by phone to answer my questions.
My only wish was that they sold gift cards so that I could get them for my...
Read moreI work in Framingham. Today was the first time in a year that I saw this place was open for business. And it didn't open until late afternoon, not 12:30. I guess this store is a second job for someone. I couldn't go in and I didn't see any cars there...
