This Stop & Shop is quite possibly the most mediocre grocery I can get myself to in a 15 minute radius. The produce is lackluster, the meat isn't very friendly to an ethical buyer, and most of the store is cluttered with over-processed items that are really unhealthy. There are almost NO gluten free options in the pre-made foods other than salad. "Oh yay! I can buy a cold, overpriced salad as my only dinner option if I'm too tired to make dinner!", said no one ever. It takes a long time to navigate the store, only to find that you're dumbing down your purchases to avoid a second stop to another store. I can walk here from my apartment, but DON'T because the place is so uninspired. The only thing that's seen significant change in the last decade or two is the self-checkout which is irritating and often malfunctions. I don't appreciate corporate trying to foist off the cost of labor onto the end customer by making the shopping experience a giant hassle. It has my cat-food brand, and the deli guy seemed nice, that's the best I can say. I know I'm writing this at the time of the strike, but I have decided to review all my local supermarkets. Tune in for future reviews of other...
Read moreEvery time I go in there I get followed by their poor excuse for undercover security. If I was doing something wrong I'd understand, but I'm wandering around because the design of the place is horrible. I hope security realized I was on to them the last time. Walking up and down aisles aimlessly and wasting an hour to waste yours was worth it. PS- your beard is out of date and invest in a belt- your gut was hanging out.
Also, the to go/pre made selection of food is disgusting. Minimal selection, the salads have soggy and brown lettuce in them. Never more than one soup in pot. I actually did an experiment. I took a clearly expired salad and gave it to deli, pointed out brown lettuce and he said he'd take care of it. Run to deli to grab something and same bad salad was on the shelf again!
There are no cashiers, mgmt said they can't get anyone, that's b.s, they put in a bunch of diy registers and they either don't work or they move at a snail's pave. I stop in occasionally because it's on my way to work. I will NOT be going in...
Read moreIt's a stop n shop (or grocery store) so if you've been to one you get it.
However I like the layout of this one, it's normally clean and stocked and there are always a few neat managers sale/sale items near the restrooms (in the back of the store near the Lunchables). The staff is nice, like super helpful when I ask for help.
One complaint is bagging, my stuff is never bagged right so I've totally switched to the scan and go so I can bag my own stuff. They put a gallon of milk on my lettuce bad.
Also some shoppers are mean to Marty the spill robot and to other store employees (like every time I go shopping) so that's out of SNSs control but it definitely effects the atmosphere. Also no one really follows the social distancing arrows so if your immune comprised I'd do pickup.
Also, related but also not: If you see a girl with blue hair muttering to herself it's probably just me listening to Hamilton,...
