I have been a member of Innovative now for almost 3 years, and each year it keeps on getting better. One of the biggest things that I like about this gym is that it is always clean or being cleaned. There is always a staff member around making sure things are in good shape, repairing equipment, and always available if you need help with something. Since I have the flexibility to go to the gym every day at different times throughout the day, I have noticed that even at peak times (around 430 to 630pm), there is always a place or piece of equipment that you can use. The track allows for a good alternative for those that don't want to use a standard treadmill, which is nice especially if its busier. They also get new equipment every so often, sometimes multiple times throughout the year. They just got a Jacob's ladder a few months back and that was a great addition to the equipment there.
The weight machines and strength building areas are always very clean and organized. I always seem to have room to do any plyometrics, TRX, P-90X workouts that I bring with me on my phone, and free weight lifting.
The pool area is also very nice. The hot tub never seems to be too busy and the wading pool is a great alternative to therapy if you want the experience of jets but dont want the hot water. The lap pool is smaller than normal pools I've seen, but still has 4 lanes. Just be sure to keep an eye out for the aqua class schedule if you are looking to do lap swimming, the aqua classes take up most of the area and they close down the lap pools except for one lane.
The reasons why I gave it 4 stars and not 5 are because I wish there was a gym there to play basketball, volleyball, or do high intensity conditioning in. If there was a gym here, I'm sure the rates would increase, but I would be willing to pay those increases. Another reason why its only 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the locker rooms. They got rid of the carpet and put down hard floors, which was a big improvement, but the lockers and rows are a bit crowded around each other. The showers are nice and clean (most of the time) and I haven't been in the steam room so I can't comment on that, but the locker rooms could be a bit bigger to host the number of patrons that are in and out throughout the day. The treadmills need a bit of updating, although they are way more advanced than some that I have seen at the other gyms in the area. The TVs attached to the treadmills tend to stop working here and there or they seem to have more loose connections than normal, but when they are working, you have a full lineup of channels. Finally, the wifi needs a hefty upgrade. They do have two separate wifi networks that you can connect up to (one your standard wifi that you may find at home, and then a 5G network for those that have higher capacity wifi on your devices). It rarely seems to connect properly and if it does, its a crap shoot. (I'm an IT person, and I'm sure they need an upgrade and know it as much as I see it). But just plan ahead, put your music on your device and not rely on streaming it, and you'll be just fine.
Otherwise, if you live in the Franklin, Muskego, Hales Corners areas, and you don't want a "strip mall" gym, this is the place to go. As someone that works out almost every day and goes to the gym, I've been to those other places (Xperience, Anytime, Snap, 24/7) and those don't compare to the overall satisfaction of what you get...
Read moreI signed my membership up mid Aug as the pool had been closed prior to that for cleaning. I am a member for the lap lanes only. When I called Jeff to cancel my membership he was abrupt and curt wanting me to put my membership on hold. As the pool was going to be closed for most of the rest of Nov I had hoped they could prorate my sign on fee and Nov monthly fee which they cannot. I planned to sign up to a much closer facility where I had swam for years. I was concerned about my safety walking into the pool and around in the pool room even with pool shoes I felt was much to slippery. In mentioning this and stressing I wanted to cancel not have the membership put on hold. Jeff became curt, short, very unprofessional and most definitely lacked skills in customer service.... He could have said sure, but we hope with our new floor you will come back..... but instead chose to be rude. When I asked to speak to superiors I was actually given to the owner. The owner himself cornered me in my statement of slipper floors and safety, only swam about 5 or 6 times to give the place a chance. He was saying that I was not a good fit for their gym. Again, very poor managerial skills and customer service. It would have been far better to say, I am sorry you feel this way and we hope you may want to return. He did not. He really was so rude. I told him I had no more to say and disconnect the phone. I am sure he will spin this to his benefit as that was what he was doing to me on the phone. Positives: Lap pool temp was great Stephanie was a wonderful personal trainer, very knowledgable unfortunately I had to suddenly cancel due to injury in family and did not pick the rest of the training. Instead I referred my sister to her. Need to go off peak hours as like most gym's peak hours are crowded. Lots of good things...
Read moreI have been a member since last spring. I joined because I have chronic health problems and my doctor wanted me to try aqua aerobics. The classes are nice and the pool is nice and warm. The locker rooms are great for handicapped people with a walker. I used my drivers license to check in and for some reason this continued on for 3+ months even though I tried hard to get a card that you just scan to check in. Unfortunately the instructors with the water aerobics had to leave and were not replaced. Several times I got myself to the pool area only to find there was no class, really a hardship when you are handicapped. I tried to connect with the physical therapists to keep my functional core strength up and was sent an email that I have no business being in the pool area with my handicap and wanted to meet with me to discuss this ( again my specialist a top specialist in MKE wanted me to do all of this) with me instead of meeting with me to talk about core strength. I believe unless you have a basic sports injury you should avoid PT here and go someplace willing to accommodate and work with you. I called and asked if someone could come out to simply lift out of car my heavy walker from handicapped spot. No one responded or called back after a week and a half. I called again was told no way they are way to busy to do that kind of thing. I was given the e mail to cancel membership. So I waited almost 2 weeks to get this response and then sent e mail and waited 2 more weeks to say I’m cancelled for Dec as they charged me for another month as I waited to get cancelled. I was told the good thing is I’m cancelled in Dec which is good as the pool isn’t even open that month or at...
