Well my experience was very unexpected honestly I will never have my car serviced here again. I took my car to Valvoline about 2 to 3 weeks ago for only an oil change, then the employee’s took my engine filter and air conditioner filter from my car. They showed both of them to me and urged that I just replace the air conditioning one soon because it was dirty. Well I mind you July of last year I had already replace both. So I told them that’s okay I just want the oil change. Well not thinking of anything my car about not even 8 hours later I was headed to work and my car sounded like a complete Lawn Mower well I mind you not I wasn’t thinking anything of it just said to myself maybe the oil hasn’t made it completely through my vehicle. Then the next few days until Thursday my car still sounded like a lawn mower and as driving through town and on the highway to work my car would take forever to just get to the speed limit and still with the loud sound constantly sounding horrible. So when I had enough funds from work this past week from lots of overtime I took my car to the shop to see what was wrong. Well I had found out from my original car place that both filter ms where missing screws and that the one which was the engine filter had suffered so much air compression to the engine. So they said that my car needed fuller looking at so they ask to tare it down which would run me from $60-140 dollars depending on what they had to do. So I said yes then they put me in a courtesy ca until they contacted my warranty company and could see what the adjuster could do about paying to repair my engine which was felling because of valvoline’s employee’s not fully replacing something I never ask to ask to be done on my car. Then in addition to all of this I went to Valvoline Friday morning 5/11/19 to speak with the store manager or person in charge after speaking with an employee at Speedway across the street from the Valvoline on 57th and University in Fridley. I then was told to speak to Tanner. I spoke with him and he then pulled up when my car was there and explained he was deeply sorry but the started to cover up what had happen. He then explained that he had been gone for the month because he was sick and on sick leave and that he would review the cameras and give me a call, he also wanted the car place where my car was being repaired to call him and verify what I was telling him. I mind you not I have him my number and he didn’t write it down only my name and I still haven’t received a call or an apology from his workers. I had my car repair place call him and still nothing at all. It’s pathetic that I’m a single mother of two kids who is fighting health problems and just got released back to work that works constantly through out the week to support her family could have to go through this. Had I have known since I had no time to make it to my car place that a quick stop oil change place could cause so much stress and maybe even my car I would have never went there. Valvoline employees need to be retrained and the Tanner the store manager need more ethic boundaries when dealing with there customers. They need to have respect and should be fully prosecuted for what they have done. My car could have killed me and my children as I take them to and from school, doctor appointments and I go to work and college myself. So customers please check the services you receive or have received from this location because...
Read moreI’ve used Valvoline for oil changes ever since I’ve been able to drive. The New Hope location suggested the MaxLife oil and informed me that it would be good for 10K miles on my high mileage truck. I’ve never heard of an oil lasting that long let alone the filter. After questioning the technician she confirmed that it’ll be good for 10K miles and sent me on my way even though that’s how many miles I drive in a year. My next oil change I relayed to the Fridley location what the New Hope location had told me. They chuckled and expressed how horribly managed the New Hope location is and so I decided to stop going to that location.
Yesterday, I went in for another routine oil change at the Fridley location. I was offered additional maintenance services but declined because I already had them done recently. The technician looked at my receipt and told me I could have saved so much money going to Valvoline for those services. I then was informed that the new technician below accidentally pulled my transmission fluid plug instead of the oil pan plug…. 20 minutes go by and not a single apology from any staff member while I had to wait for a manager to come from a different location because he is the only one who knew how to refill the transmission fluid. The entire staff was laughing and making fun of the new technician completely disregarding the frustration & inconvenience this has caused me. Finally the Assistant Manager who was onsite THE ENTIRE TIME came and apologized to me but then defended his coworkers for “trying to make light of the situation”. I’m so glad their mistake was so funny. He refunded my money and had the audacity to offer a future oil change at no cost, an insult considering the mistake made. When the manager from another location who supposedly knew how to fix my truck showed up, I was not spoken to and was left in the dark about the status of my vehicle and the timeframe it’ll take to fix. After being in the bay for 2 hours with very little updates, someone informed me that they were finishing up and it should take about 4-5 more minutes. It indeed was not done in 5 minutes and turned into another 45 minutes. Finally, it was time to test their work and go through all the gears to make sure everything was working properly. The technician relaying directions from below messed up and told me to change gears too early causing my truck to make unpleasant sounds. How am I to trust these people to preform extra recommended services and to fix my transmission fluid if they can’t even do the basic service they’re most known for?? A colossal mistake and there is no way I’m going to trust or give my money to Valvoline ever again. “Raven” from management is supposed to reach out to me today to make it right, yet still no contact. “Best oil change in town” displayed on their Valvoline sign,...
Read moreI stopped in to get an oil change on 1/14/2015 & while the technician was under the hood he accidentally touched the dip stick to the battery terminal which causes a spark & know this because I've done it once myself & after I left I went across the street to get gas, after starting my car I hear a really loud beeping sound coming from behind my stereo area so I drove back & told the guy what was going on, he said if I continue having problems just come back & they'll take a look at it. After a few days of sitting in front of the house I go to start the car but the battery is drained (not dead) as the dome light had come on & the engine didn't want to turn over so I jumped it & have had to continue jumping it or remove the negative cable to prevent the battery from draining.
Today I go to the facility after talking to the store manager (Sean Fautsch) yesterday, the manager proceeds to test the battery & tells me repeatedly my terminal post is bad like I don't know what he's talking about (for those that don't know that's the metal post you attach the connection to) & says that's why my negative connector keeps coming off after hitting bumps in the road (tried using zip ties to keep it on the post), so I go to autozone to get new red/black connectors & a terminal post, the guy tells me I can't buy a terminal post as someone would have to open the battery to install the post & I would have to buy a new battery.
So as far as I'm concerned the manager didn't know what he was talking about as there was no damage (cracks or holes) to the post itself, I replaced the connectors myself & will wait a day to see if it was just the connectors that needed to be replaced & to see if the beeping sound goes away otherwise I will contact a trusted repair man & see what steps I will need to take from there.
On a side note, from his attitude he may have been having a bad day & may have been off of his game but that's no excuse to give bad information.
Update 2/6/2015: My terminal post isn't "bad" although when my car doesn't want to start i disconnect the negative battery cable then disconnect the spark plug wires from the relay box as well as the 3 wires on the right side of the engine, after all that is done I reconnect everything and the engine is able to start, this is becoming to be a real pain in the butt especially in the early morning freezing...
