Unnecessarily rude and abrasive. We recently went to hike Jockey Cap with little kids. We pulled in and quickly realized they didn’t have parking for the trail. Over the past 15 years parking has gone from allowing people to park and hike, to two dedicated spots to a new lot about 0.2 miles east on 302. Their sign about parking refers to the “easterly” side of Dollar General. We left their lot and pulled into Dollar General looking for the new parking. The workers at Quinn’s proceeded to rudely yell at us that parking is “past Dollar General.” And then they snidely added - “just like the sign says!” But the sign doesn’t say that. It refers to the easterly side of Dollar General. They went out of their way to be rude. Most businesses would likely be excited to have an attraction that draws people to its location. Heck, they could even try to do a “hike and snack” special. Instead, they have a disdain for people trying to hike. Back in the day we used to grab stuff before and after going up to the Cap. Not so much anymore. Their stuff is overpriced and mediocre. Store used to be a lot better. And if you hate the hikers/parking so much, get a new sign that says “Parking for the Jockey Cap trailhead is 0.2 miles east on 302. The lot is on the left.” Then you wouldn’t need to rudely...

The trail head appears to be right at their parking lot. Later we learned there was a dirt road near the school that we could have driven up and parked.
There were lots of empty spots to park. All but two said "NO PARKING FOR HIKERS". The two free spots were occupied. I went into the store and explained we came from Florida hoping to see Jockey Cap. I explained that the two spots were taken but all the rest were open. I asked the young man there if I could pay to park for an hour. He said "NO". Then I asked if I purchased some food, then could I leave the car for a short hike to Jockey Cap. His answer was "NO"! Not very helpful. An empty parking lot and a paying customer still no deal!
We went to the Dollar General next door. They said park the car and hike the trail. These folks are great! Plus we love DG's Ripple Cut Potato Chips, if you get a chance drop by...
Read moreThey are not one's for first impressions. As soon as they knew we were from out of town the atmosphere changed.. Lady had to keep telling me over and over they don't make any money writing fire permits. Told us not come during lunch because it is to much and they don't make any money. So put your vacation on hold if you arrive around lunch time... what??? So I'm thinking it is some long drawn out process, no it took her 1 minute to write it up. When she was done I was like that's it. That's what all the fuss was over, 1 whole minute. Why offer the service if you do not want or like to do it. I don't understand. Immediately turned us off. We were going to grab some food and more things but decided to move on. The amount of money they would have made from my family and I over the future we plan to come to your town and camp for years to come. I mean camping supplies, food, souvenirs. I will go somewhere else so us tourists don't bother you....
