I had a positive experience with the service and the staff at Starwood PowerSports. They were friendly, considerate, and helpful. However, I did encounter an issue regarding transparency. Initially, they appeared to be honest and transparent, and it's possible that they had good intentions. However, when I inquired about the prices of different vehicles, the quotes provided were consistently about $1500.00 lower than the actual price. I can't help but wonder if it was actually a tactic to show the illusion of transparency. Allow me to elaborate.
It wasn't until the purchasing process that I discovered various hidden costs, which were confusing to understand based on the paperwork. As a female customer, I admit that I may be less knowledgeable about the specific terminology or descriptions in the itemized list. When I asked about the additional $1500 charge, I was informed that it covered freight and setup charges from the dealership. Additionally, there was another charge imposed by Can-Am as a commodity charge. I found it perplexing why these charges weren't included in the original quote, so I sought clarification. The response I received was that it was indeed included in the original proposal (and I understand that), but I still don't comprehend the reasoning behind not providing the final vehicle price after these charges were added. Keep in mind that I did not see the receipt until it was emailed to me. They did not offer a paper copy.
Furthermore, when I questioned why taxes were applied despite providing my tax exemption information, I was given an explanation that the charges listed under the tax column encompassed delivery fees, as well as titling and registration fees with the state. It's still unclear to me why any taxes were levied after submitting my tax exemption information, but the explanations I received were vague and confusing. At that point, it seemed like the salesperson was prepared to refund my deposit and cancel the entire transaction once I continued to inquire further. To avoid frustrating them any further, I decided to drop the subject, acknowledging that perhaps I was simply misunderstanding everything.
Overall, I believe it would be beneficial for the company to adopt a practice of increased transparency and clarity in addressing customer questions. This would help prevent confusion and ensure a more positive experience for all customers.

Colby (salesperson) did all the right things in my estimation. First asked what I'm going to be using it for and then follow-ons to how I answered. As well, what's my budget.
Basically you can tell he cared about getting me into the right unit.
He then took me out and walked me thru many different types of UTV that would meet my needs and he nailed my needs right off with the units he showed me.
He explained the pros and cons of each of them in regards to my needs. Helped me understand the different types of vehicle warranties and those can get complex.
In the end, I found the right UTV for my needs.
The team cleaned up the unit before delivery and had it delivered that same day after I signed the paperwork, which btw, was very easy and quick too.
The gentleman explained all the items in details as well, the extended plans and was NOT pushy in anyway, also pointing out that based on my usage of the unit this plan might not make much sense.
Also, another nice touch was taking me to the parts mgr and the services mgr. This seemed to be part of their program as each signed off on Colby's sheet. This gave me a chance to meet them face to face but also to share and talk thru any of my extended needs. Was nice to get the Service Mgr. giving me the service plan for how many hours at each phase and exactly what they'd be doing for each of those plans and the estimated price tags. Very detailed.

Read moreI recently purchased a 2025 Sea-Doo GTX Limited from Starwood Powersports in Gainesville, and had a great experience from start to finish. When we first visited the dealership, we were greeted by Colby, who was friendly, helpful, and most importantly—not pushy. He let us browse at our own pace but was ready to answer questions when we had them.
After looking around, I found a Sea-Doo that caught my eye—the GTX Limited in the pearl white finish. Colby was upfront about pricing and willing to negotiate. We eventually landed on a deal I was happy with. Although I left that day to think about it, I reached out to Colby the following Monday to finalize the purchase. He was very responsive, even on his day off, and helped get the financing process started right away.
When I came back the next day, everything was in motion. Colby had the initial documents ready, and I finished up the paperwork with Wesley in finance. Wesley was professional and personable. I also decided to purchase the extended warranty and maintenance agreement, especially after hearing that Starwood has improved their service department compared to the previous dealership at this location—which had caused me some issues in the past.
I took the Sea-Doo home that day and have already had a blast riding it. It's fast, comfortable, and packed with great features. I’ve owned a 2019 Fish Pro that has been very reliable, so I’m hopeful this one will be just as solid.
