Teres Cocina — Restaurant in Gainesville

This unassuming spot, part of a small food court at a gas stop off the freeway, serves up the best Mexican in Gainesville and surrounding areas, hands down. What it lacks in atmosphere for dining in, it more than makes up for in authentic flavors, great attention, and friendly service.

Be warned: this is not Tex-Mex. It’s authentic Mexican cuisine. The real deal. La mera mera.

The menu is extensive, offering a combination of “safe” (familiar) options such as burritos and quesadillas, as well as a small handful of adventurous one like birria (beef cheek) and lengua (beef tongue) tacos. The carne asada torta and birria tacos were top-notch, as were the red and green salsas that accompanied them. Portions are very generous to boot!

I have also heard great things about the tamales and gorditas. Apparently, they’re so good, the owners can’t keep up with the volume of orders they receive (always a good sign). I highly recommend this place and can’t wait to go...

Small restaurant located within a gas/convenience store and another food chain, BUT don't let that fool you! Stopped in for a quick breakfast based on other reviews and it did not disappoint. Mama Teres runs the place and the best Mexican food in Gainesville TX. All home made and you order your food with any ingredients you want. Make sure you ask questions and you will get what you want I live here and it will be my Mexican food place. Great service and they are wonderful people. Make sure you try it.
