My brother and I were visiting the Colby KS from West Virginia this weekend and had a few hours to kill. Being escape enthusiasts, naturally we turned to see what was nearby. This place was only about two hours away, so we decided to make the drive south to check it out. (The $10 weekend could not be beat.)
Our group was just my brother and I, so we wanted to play a relatively easier game, The Gingerbread Cottage. It was very enjoyable and the theming was on point. Some of the puzzles were easier than others, but overall everything made sense and we escaped with about 30-minutes left on the clock.
Since we drove two hours to be here, we decided to stick around and play another game, Vanished. This one was a bit harder as some of the clues weren't collectively coherent, but it was still a lot of fun. We still managed to escape with about 15 minutes left on the clock. There was one puzzle in particular that didn't sit well with me, but the gamester was quick to help. (I've played dozens of rooms and have watched thousands of groups go through similar games so I know how these things go. You get it or you don't. haha)
Overall, I think the Gingerbread Cottage game was the more fun out of the two but the Vanished had some really fun twists and turns. Overall, for $10 per person, the games were a lot of fun. It was great to escape the heat and do something with my brother. I would urge on the side of caution if you have a group any bigger than four, as the rooms are rather small, but it worked perfectly for our team of two.
My only complaint was that the gamester wasn't as enthusiastic as we were to be there. There was some delay between asking for a clue and receiving it, sometimes having to ask multiple times. After the game she greeted us with 'that was it, let's get your picture.' Considering we got the #3 overall record on the gingerbread room, a little more enthusiasm would have been appreciated. But then again, I'm very passionate about these games and enjoy talking with the game master afterwards.
All in all a great experience and I would recommend this to anyone looking for something to do in...
Read moreWe love escape room adventures, and whenever we travel, we look for opportunities to break out. This time, while visiting Dodge City, we drove the hour to do Mayan Experience. We had 11 people, ages 3 to 67, and everyone contributed something. It was a little cozy on space, but not overwhelming and not disruptive to solving puzzles. Even compared to larger, higher budget rooms, this place was terrific with the room scenery, variety of puzzles, and use of locks, magnets, and the like. The game master was helpful without being intrusive. He was also extremely attentive and knew exactly where in the process we were. And considering we have paid as much as $30 per person, regardless of age, or similar experiences, this place can't be beat! My only regret is that we aren't staying long enough to try out the...
Read moreI was here with my sister and her boyfriend and us three had an amazing time. The customer service was excellent and had let us go into our room almost an hour earlier than I reserved. They helped us out quite a bit when we were incredibly stumped (which was almost every time we found a new puzzle). Thanks to them, we escaped with seven minutes left out of the hour!
The rooms are cozy, but they’re still big enough to fit quite a large party. You can definitely tell that they put a lot of thought and effort into putting together these rooms.100% recommend!
Thank you so much for these...
