Is it fair to judge all the vendors across the board? The answer is yes if you've tried them all. Norma's was a salt bomb both times I've ate it. Filipino food was all about liquid smoke and celery. When Wagon wheel was there. Same. Nothing but salt. And absolutely no thought behind the cooking. Seriously 8 bucks for chips and salsa. That should have been enough to make me say no thank you. Then another 8 bucks for salty, very salty queso. It was honestly one of the most unpleasant food experiences in Garden City. I tried. I really did. 4 times we went and 4 times we were disappointed. The only reason there are 2 stars is because of the concept. Good enough idea albeit poor execution. I watched people in the kitchen eat and prep food with the same gloves on. That's not how that works. Gloved hand to put food straight into your mouth. And the same glove to prepare food!! No. I guess now there will only be one star. Definitely do not recommend. Sorry GC. The vibe is pretty strange, we got stared at both times we walked in by the sparse staff and odd collection of folks at the bar and did not feel welcome. The food is mid at best, and we tried dishes from the American, Haitian, and Filipino stalls. Prime rib sandwich was dry, the Haitian fried chicken was overly soupy and not crispy in the least, and the fried rice from the Filipino stall was the 90 second rice you get in a pouch from the grocery store (I've had enough of that stuff to know). We did enjoy the pork skewers, but that's about it. Just weird and...
Read moreThe seafood boil wasn't what I've had in the past. It was seasoned well it had some jelly like substance covering the seafood. It wasn't in a bag like normal with seasoning and butter. I paid 10 for a cluster of crab leg that wasn't a full cluster. So I sent it back. The Haitian chicken patty was delicious, and so was my mule. The waitress was nice but could have been more attentive. She was eating and not checking in enough. Actually, she never checked. I had to wave her down. I was visiting from Texas, and there is hardly any good food in Garden City. I would recommend to try going for yourself. There are several ethnic food vendors here. The atmosphere is kinda boring...
