Dollar General — Local services in Gardendale

Used the self check out and tried to use coupons asked for help and the employee just tried to use the coupons like I did then told me the machine didn’t take them as walked away to counting using the extra register to ring customers up. The machine didn’t say you couldn’t use coupons but that you had to wait till the end. She didn’t even ask if I wanted to move to a normal register so I could use my coupons. Just felt like it was too much effort and too busy to give me the help I needed and it was easier to tell me that and walk away then try to compensate for the fact there isn’t even a sign informing you that the machine doesn’t take coupons. I wouldn’t have gone to self check if it hadn’t taken coupons. Though I think the customer before me used a coupon at the self check??

TLDR: No sign informing self checkout didn’t take coupons, associate didn’t help me other than trying to scan them and walked away without trying to...

Everyone here is so friendly and will help u with anything from a question to getting product from the top shelf. Kasey, Tammy and I'm sorry but didn't get the young girls name that was working the register by the door around 7pm tonight, y'all r so awesome. Love u girls. Keep up the good work. I always refer people to ur store instead of some of the other locations. At alot of the other locations within a 25 mile radius act like ur the worst person and disturbing them if u ask for help or need a question answered. The manager at this store is rude, condescending, and completely unprofessional. Prices in the app and in-store don’t match, and when coupons don’t apply, she shrugs it off and says there’s nothing she can do. She can override the incorrect pricing, other stores do, she doesn't want to. During my visit, she made an insulting comment about EBT users, assuming I don’t work—completely out of line and unacceptable. I shop here every week and have never once seen her treat anyone, including her staff, with basic respect. If she hates her job and customers this much, maybe she should find another...
