Food Lion — Local services in Gastonia

I was completely humiliated by two members of management in front of the whole store because they accidentally mistook me for someone else who was previously been in the store earlier!!! While slandering myself & telling me I needed to leave the store as the night shift manager was yelling that I was a scumbag & many more names for attempting to sell foodstamps earlier that day while I was actually working instead so I don't have to have the food stamps I was accused of trying to sell. This was all before realizing that indeed I was the wrong person!!! However the Defamation Of My Character had already been very loudly been yelled out at me in front of everyone. I do intend on this being publicly known as well to clear up any confusion about this from all of the witnesses. If you're reading this you'll be hearing about how it was definitely wrongful accusations about me soon on your local media. Keep your eye on this post as I'll update on the location of this story being published... Edit. I gave this store another try & it hasn't changed at all.

UPDATE: Let's give this location a second chance!!! Bad Decision!!!

Never again will I even pull in this parking lot of this facility. As I thought I'd give this location one more try and unfortunately wasn't surprised when I was mistreated as a customer again. I simply asked if the item's could be bagged separately "Food & cleaning supplies" and was yelled at or spoken to extremely loud telling me that they know how to do the job they have & don't need a customer telling them how to do the cashier baggers job. But apparently they do if you think it's okay to mix toxic cleaning supplies with my food. Then it could've been resolved by simply removing the cleaning product from the food item's bag & put into a different one but I'm not right on this & when I just took it upon myself to do this was told I'm wasteful & I'm part of the global warming problem since I prefer my food not to be in the same packaging as poisonous item's. I won't be spoke to this way & should've known better than to try this food lion store again as it's well known around the Gastonia Area that this location has a bad name & is not the location to visit if you prefer good service. The entire store needs training including the management apparently or the employees wouldn't be...

First of all, I always shop at Food Lion! I really don't buy groceries anywhere else, but here! I drink Strawberry Aloe Vine, and my husband forgot to buy me some when he went shopping Monday 4/7/2025. So I went to grab a few, and a few other things, at the closest Food Lion to my house. I went in at 9:36 pm exactly. As soon as I walked in the door, grabbed a shopping cart, and went to the produce section, they turned a bunch of the lights off, and made an announcement that they would be closing soon, make your selection, and come to the register if you want to check out, basically! I understand they close in 25 minutes, but how rude! I couldn't even see what I needed in the refrigerated sections, and honestly would've been a lot quicker had I been able to see! I bought a few things here, they didn't have my Aloe Vine, so I ended up going to the Food Lion on S. New Hope Road, because they're open until 11! By the time I got there, because I cleaned my car out first, they were closing in 20 minutes! They didn't turn the lights off, or make a bunch of announcements! Everyone was so nice and helpful, and they had my Aloe Vine! I will never go to the one on Union Road Again! I don't care if it is closer to my house! Customer service and kindness is everything! Check out the one on S. New Hope if you want to be treated with kindness and respect! It's only 5 minutes away and the atmosphere...

We are new in town and I have tried shopping at the 4 Walmarts around here. Horrible. I went here for the first time this evening (we love their brand of nighttime diapers! They don't leak!). I bought a few items more than expected because there are a lot of deals this week! We were overcharged for the pork loin. Shelf tag says 7.99 but receipt says 9.99.

I have worked retail. I have done price changes, cashier, and service desk.. I have more patience than others when it comes to errors like these. I called around dinner time to have them check price. Janet- was polite and understanding. She told me I can bring in my receipt next time I am there and get the $2 refunded.

And to other people with reviews on pricing.. Yes.... It's a higher end retail store. Notice how their shelves are filled and neatly faced? Not empty like Walmarts. Notice how they don't have self check outs? They have cashiers and baggers that need a paycheck just like you. And their produce always looks great. They most likely pay more to have the first pick. But unless you have worked in retail or gone to school for it, you won't understand that aspect of it.
